People are overanalysing. With better forward play/finishing we'd still be top of the league. The only game we've been outplayed was wolves. In the Chelsea, Villa and West Ham games we should have been 3 up before the opposition laid a glove on us. We all saw it coming at half time on Thurs, when you don't take your chances the nerves kick in and the rest is inevitable. Our forwards are ok, but Son aside we are missing the real quality that the other top teams have in attack and that's probably what will cost us this season, unless Levy has a personality transplant in January and gets a big upgrade on Richarlison in.

Kind of said the same thing in my last post too

I can think of one good thing about the Conte / Jose era, and that was that there was no real injury for Kane

"problem" if i can call it that with Ange's style of football is, it is very high intensity, and that type of footbal usually carry a lot more injuries with it.
the call for 2 good players in each position is more important with Ange type of footbal than Conte/Jose i think.

When we are a fully fit team we will do wonders under Ange, but when we get into Europe and always go 150% every first half, with even more matches, the injuries will keep coming,
i still think in the end, Levy will be our reason for not progressing much, hope i am wrong

For my 2p, as I’m displacing work…

If we’d spread these four games out through the season instead of facing them consecutively, I‘d say we were exactly where I’d hoped we would be, in touch, playing some exciting stuff, and showing the green shoots of recovery and revitalization.

But because they’ve come 5 in a row, meaning 1p out of 15, and we’d been ahead in each game (I think, from memory) that makes it feel so much worse than it is, because it’s now talk about record bad runs at home, never had this many points dropped successively, etc etc… On the form table, I think we are currently 20th… and that means we need the players to pick their heads up and power on. I’d thought City was the turning point, but West Ham annoyed me (yet, let’s be honest that first half we were incredible, and if Richy’s header had gone in… we would be level with City and there’d be no real talk of a mini-crisis.) but it makes the Newcastle game so much more important.

In our favour, Newcastle historically don’t travel to London well… against us, I suspect our confidence has taken a battering, but these are the situations where our buying into the manager are key. It’s easy to talk the talk when you are winning, it’s what happens when you face adversity that counts.

Score-wise. The performance against chelscum, Villa and spammers were on point. Had we actually went to a 2-goal lead in all these 3 games, we won them all.

If games lasted 45 mins then yes, but like you said we’ve been failing to capitalise on it, due to poor second half performances.

It’s always easier to play when you are one or two behind. no pressure. When you are ahead and the other team are pushing you’ve got to stand up and be counted. West Ham was a fair bit of bad luck, Bowen didn’t know where the ball was and then suddenly , there it is, bang.
Weve had luck this season, yes Liverpool , just got to crack on and get further ahead than one goal.
must say the defence looked miles better with Romero, as you would expect.

I really don’t see anything wrong with the job he’s doing tbh. If anything it’s incredibly impressive. Growing pains were bound to happen, they always do. Ange is still learning about his team and what individuals are and aren’t capable of. We all know our team is far from complete and he’s only had one transfer window. Not only that we’ve been struck by one of the worst injury crises we’ve had in recent years.

Yes his game management and team selections sometimes have been a little questionable but other times they’ve worked. Again tho our depth is absolutely atrocious so there often isn’t many options available to him.

The reality is until we add more depth of the required quality then results will probably continue as they have. The key for me is to bring in some good talent in Jan whilst moving on some who don’t fit the ethos and continue to build from there until summer when we can really address things.

Considering the football we played last season and the very limited squad we have, this season was always going to be one of transition. The fact we were doing so well for the first few months is testament to how good a manager Ange is. All we fans should be doing is supporting him, we just have to hope that the club do to in the upcoming transfer window or we won’t be going anywhere fast.
I think it just goes to show that there are always going to be people who want success now, regardless of the circumstances.

When you take the circumstances into account, it is really hard to justify anything other than Ange doing a very good job so far. We have hit a major roadblock, but I don't think there's any team in the league that could cope with the amount of severe injuries we have had. Look at City, they lost Rodri (in addition to De Bruyne) and could only get 2 shots on goal against the same Villa team we battered with a makeshift XI!!!!

This is going to take time. Fortunately, it seems like the majority of the fans are willing to give Ange the time he needs.

Can dumb ****s just stop chatting about Conte?

He's not the manager here.

He will never be the manager here ever again.

Whichever way you feel, he is not the issue here.

Shut the fuck up.

For the love of Yahweh
Ha ha very fair point.

Conte stated on several occassions that we needed time and patience. I suspect he did not get offered the length of contract he felt he needed given we were unable / unwilling to spend 250M+ in one transfer window. If he had been offerred it then why not accept? At 15M per year even if he is sacked halyway through he's onto a good thing.
Perhaps the deaths and his illness made him stop and think, why should I kill myself and spend time away from my family if I am not going to be supported in the way I think I need to be in order to bring trophies.
Conte was a terrible fit.

Let bygones be bygones, move on.

Its Angetime now 💪 🇦🇺

The biggest thing for me in periods like this, is can I see a plan? Can I see what we want to be? And the answer is yes. Every game/first half bar probably Wolves I have seen us play some wonderful stuff. Had we been clinical this may have been a different conversation. Have to keep mentioning VDV and Maddison in particular missing. Once players are back/brought in we will be even better.

Ange has said there would be bumps in the road early on and that periods like this make the side stronger.

As annoyed as I am in the immediate aftermath of the defeats, the next day I am actually relaxed about things. I watch United and see they have no plan, no togetherness. We have both. Even players that don't feel suited to the system are giving their all. That says it all about Ange's ability to get everyone to buy in. The ones who when everyone is fit would barely get a minute are all in. That is a huge thing.

I think the fans need patience. We can't be sacking a manager so quickly otherwise we're back to square one. It will be another transitional season. People will hate this comparison, but Arteta had poor results early on yet he was backed and they challenged for the league, are back up there again and won an FA Cup. Give him the time and players and we will be fine.

Absolutely and whoever, we get, people will always moan, would pick different players, would play a different way, would have better in-game management than the head coach and there will always be a transition.

Good post.

I think patience isn't just in firing or not firing. It's about giving the team the time to gel together and get new signings in. There is no way to do this overnight.

I've been very impressed with our play and while we are all frustrated at our injuries and squad depth, another issue has been ever present, finishing.

We've created enough good chances to finish teams off but Son is our only real goalscorer at the moment.

We can look for that prolific signing, no harm in doing so, but in time the likes of Johnson could be a really good goalscorer for us. It's unlikely he'll join and immediately hit 15+ league goals for us but he has the skilset to do.

Like you say, the style of play is clear and one I want to watch.

Some good signings and time can see us play some really good football that gets results. At least for now I'm enjoying the ride.
