I wonder if jamming a winter world cup into the middle of the whole of mainland Europe's season has anything to do with these injuries...

Couple that with more "competitive" internationals in the form of the nations league and the amount of football they have to play seems unceasing.

Yet they'll still bang on about player welfare like they actually give a shit...

And we aren't even in Europe. The schedule is just too much at the elite level.

If you want to blame anyone for the lack of centre backs….It’s Ange, he was happy to shift Dav Sanchez at the end of the window. It was a gamble which has not paid off even if we are doing well in the league.
don’t forget Brighton have loads of injuries as well.

I think we are past the time you can blame a winter World Cup for injuries.

Players - particularly international players - are still being overused. But part of that is down to FIFA, and part is down to the clubs. Both have a responsibility to rest and rotate the players to keep them healthy. Unfortunately both are incentivized to make short-term decisions rather than long-term.

I don’t think Emerson was ‘shit’ at CB. He did pretty well considering it’s not his position.

Not very good in the air which is compounded playing alongside Davies. Makes them a bit of an easy target. Think he'll also be targeted if we play out from the back too much. Up to Ange to adapt a bit but that's doubtful.

Royal is decent though with that pass/move building from the back. Should still be ok at CB doing this.

Dier doesnt have the nimbleness/ quick touch/control

The injuries are just ludicrous. Solomon, Perisic, Romero, VDV, Maddison, Bentancur, Sessegnon, Richarlison, Whiteman, Johnson and GLC all missing a significant number of games so far. Insane. That's about half the fucking squad.

Really needs to be looked into by the club.

i think we had ITK at the time saying Ange understood why the club were letting Sanchez go but that he wasn't happy that we didn't bring in a replacement

Really needs to be looked into by the club.
Does it?

For pretty much all of those players you’ve listed it’s either been a freak type injury in training, a pulled muscle due to load or a pre existing condition that needed surgery like Gil, Sessengon and Richarlison.

Although both of our main CB’s pulling their hamstrings within the first half of the season to be can’t be a coincidence it must have something to do with our style of play and the load they’re putting through that muscle.

Was that Ange’s decision or Levy’s? I’d have thought Ange would prefer Sanchez to Dier so it’s a bit strange we kept Dier whilst letting Sanchez go if it was purely a footballing decision.

So in conclusion you agree it must be looked into by the club? :cautious:

Nah. It’s clearly a conspiracy mate. Qualified doctors etc are taking the piss and just dossing around when they get to TG @ Spurs.

I'm guessing the sacrifice was moving Sanchez on when we could get decent money, accepting that it was a season of transition, City will romp it etc, but now it looks like that dip season and most of us are realising we could actually have done/do something bigger with a decent backup CB.
I'm also guessing we didn't want to pay Dier off and he was happy to sit tight.

Not really mate as I said most of the injuries are easily explained so there isn’t much to look into really.

The only ones which could be looked into would be Romero and VDV both pulling their hammies but I don’t agree that the overall injury situation needs to be looked into by the club because the majority of the injuries can be quite easily attributed to a specific incident that caused the injury. For example Matty Twat Cash’s hacking down of Bentancur clearly caused his ankle injury so what is there for the club to look into?

Right, right.

The club should look into Romero and VdV's injuries, but they shouldn't look into the injuries. Gotcha.

I think the only thing that needs looking into is for football as a whole to question whether the absurd amount of international games and travelling is necessary, and if so maybe it's the intensity of training that needs looking at. The number of injuries in the modern game, across the board, is ridiculous.

Correct. The nations league for example. Just a money spinner trying to be relevant.
