You don’t think he’d go for the newer, shinier Nagelsmann? I still think he’s a big name to many despite the weirdness at Bayern.
I'm getting confused by which posts are about Jose and which about Bale. Not world class
If he was world class
Technically world class
Anyone else getting confused?
I appreciate the sentiment but can’t imagine Ange going for latter day Bale. Those legs weren’t up for the pressing. It was such a shame watching those clips back that the Son-Kane-Bale frontline happened under Jose during Covid. Imagine that with Ange and a full stadium.
#Mourinho : “Our potential is not comparable to that of our rivals fighting for fourth place, but people think I am José Harry Mourinho Potter”

This is from the manager of a team that has Dybala and Lukaku. LOL.

What does Maureen do with all this money he is given by foolish clubs ?He'll be sacked soon I reckon, usual Jose cycle coming to its end.
He comes in, asks for a ton of money and big wages on big name experienced players, galvanizes the club and fans and squad at first and his gritty football works well in cup competitions, then the honeymoon period wears off, the fans get frustrated and bored, he pisses off the players, league form crashes, Jose increases his outbursts and sulks and eventually the cycle is complete for a nice Rosey pay off.
I won't say he's a 'shit' Manager because you can't have won what he's won and continually get to cup finals if you're totally rubbish but he is outdated and his tactics and man management don't seem to work in the league anymore over a consistent period of a whole season.
Where would he go after this, US, Saudi, Portuguese national team? Back to managing in Portugal? Chelsea, Newcastle?...

Where do people stack him up against the greats? He'll be sacked soon I reckon, usual Jose cycle coming to its end.

Completely agree with all of what you write tbh. A great manager at his peak, but the lack of reinvention stops him from being an all-timer.Where do people stack him up against the greats?
I remember having a José vs Pep debate all the way back in 2011 and quite a few thought Jose was better.
Yet that was 13 years ago and since then Pep just goes from strength to strength and has inspired coaching all over the world.
José seems to just inspire only his faithful who always say he has been poorly treated by clubs.
Yet I reckon if you put his spending over time in comparison to Pep's it won't be much difference.
The biggest factor us that Pep evolves his teams and focuses on the development. Rarely does Pep bring in the finished article.
José has no patience for that. If a player fucks up, he is back on the bench.
Id also make a case that Jose's era lasted around 10 years. From 2014 he hasnt really been the same, certainly not the man who is able to topple rivals consistently.
Whereas Anceltotti, Pep, Cruyff, Wenger kept going and kept evolving the football landscape.
Jose's football seemed to work much better when it was less about systems and more about individual quality as he'd normally have the best defenders who could just mark players out of the game.
Now that football is more dynamic and defenders are probably not as robust defensively as they need to be able to play, combined with relentless pressing, you can't set your team up to play that way.
Its too tiring and the players lack the mentality to want to defend strong for 90+mins.
Just listen to Dragusin's words when he joined, he is excited about playing and playing aggressively. That means more mistakes and less caution.
Players just dont play that way anymore.
He will probably get a gig at one more big/biggish club as he will air his grievances and blame others whilst someone will be desperate to have him.
But for me, I wouldnt have him up their with the all time great coaches. A winner? Absolutely.
But he hasnt left much of an impression in the game other than a bunch of pragmatic Portuguese coaches.
I am still disappointed in myself for being happy to have him here as I totally went against what Id been saying about him for years

Agree with most of this, but I think his character and ability to say something noteworthy elevates him a bit. We will all remember Jose, the things he said the tantrums and quips etc. He’s a prat, but an entertaining prat nonetheless.Where do people stack him up against the greats?
