I saw this thread pop up and I had literally no idea if he was still at the club or not.

A bit sad, really.

I just read that the club are considering cutting short his loan as of 1st Jan. He's only just recovered from his injury at Augsburg in Germany but his chances of playing are now slim considering he's one of 6 senior CBs and they just switched from a back 3 to a back 4.

I wouldn't be against this because I think he has more ability at CB than Royal and wouldn't be bad as the 4th choice in we bring in another CB

I just don't see the point. It is clear he has no future at the club. We have 2 young lads who probably should get the development time ahead of him.

It's not fair on him to have him as a 4th choice and at that not a grat 4th choice. Let him have an opportunity to start his career at a club where he gets game time.

VDV should be back in Jan so we just need to sign 1 centre back and we'll be fine. 3 centre backs with Davies/Phillips for 4th cover. Would rather give Phillips or Dorrington chances as 4th choice. That being said maybe should have kept one of Tanganga or Rodon while we didn't have another centre back signed. Could have used their pace until Jan but in Jan we should sort that position.

Has still not played a minute for Augsburg and according to transfermarkt he has been fit since early November.

He is getting linked again with Luton, which would be ideal IMO.

That would be great for spurs if he can prove himself in a prem team for the 2nd half of the season. Their style of play might suit him more and he could add to his value if he stays fit. Also, he wouldn't be able to play against us if he's on a loan deal, which would be a nice added bonus.

They have 6 players for CB and play with 2, coach who signed him has been sacked & new one doesn't seem to favour him.

That's just awful loan management then (the club & his agents), given that Tanganga was loaned out at the very end of the window.

To be fair the previous manager played 3 at the back so the 6 is 2 for each role but new manager plays with 4 at the back

Would be a great signing for Luton. Was linked in the summer and I personally think it would be an excellent loan for both Luton and the player.

He would get minutes (particularly with the short term availability of Lockyer in doubt) and Rob Edwards seems like a great person.

Nobody knew that the manager would be sacked and the new one would play a different system, plus, clubs weren't exactly beating down our door to take the lad.
At the very least, he's experienced a new culture and league, whilst stepping away from the Spurs bubble.

Luton would be a good move for him I reckon.

I don’t want to be harsh, but he’d be a terrible signing for anyone. He’s never ever fit.

I think he'd be a big gamble for a club that has an outside chance of staying up and desperately needs a CB. Tanganga is someone who had a handful of promisiing appearances for us about 3 years ago and since then has either been really poor, injured or not selected. If they need a bench option then he could be worth a risk but if they want someone to play every week he isn't where I'd put my chips.

He needs to follow Joe Rodon's footsteps and accept a step down is the best way to take a step up. Rodon has gone to Leeds and smashed it. Could be Championship is more his level. But if they get promoted, he'll still be their starting CB. Or, he will attract interest from lower level PL teams over the summer. Japhet should look at that template and try to do the same thing. Hell, i'd recommend Sess do it as well. Sadly the latter two are also insanely injury prone. So, what club wants to take on players that are only available 50% of the time. It's a rough one for Japhet, as he had a lot of potential. I hope that he can get over his injury hump, and find a place to play regularly. Whether in the Championship, the SPL or heck, why not the MLS?

I presume we still get our fee? Or is it split over the 2 halves of the season?

be unprecedented that we’re probably the only club to have 3 loanees sent back half way through the season

Such a pity, his pace, power and one on one defending is top class. He's good on the ball as well. I really thought he'd make it.

But injuries really have destroyed his career, he just needs to get game time and not get injured.

The other problem is where you play him, he's never really nailed down a position. He just needs to play.
