It's written in the same way Mrs Doyle used to tempt Father Ted into having a cup of tea.

Anyway, it's acclaimed fiction writer Matt Law and his whole angle is that Walker met with Poch so that must mean City have a chance.

Now, g'wan Father, won't you have a cup of tea?

It makes a little sense...if you consider that Pep (and Xavi) quickly came out and rubbished the Dele story ... Almost as though he knew they were working on one deal and did not want to jeopardize it with the Dele rumours...

I would hate to sell Walker to a rival though. If it's true, Poch must have a lot of faith in KWP, or he is moving Dier back...

This is the part where City use the media to try and unsettle the player and make him want to leave

Is that forgetting Trippier? He's come on really well this season and if Walker was to leave, surely Trippier would be an automatic 1st choice RB with KWP or another as his backup?

Newspapers confident of tempting Spurs fans with endless bullshit stories containing rival team name, large sum of money and player not going anywhere.

There is no need for us to weaken ourselves and strengthen a rival. Poch has already said we don't need to sell. We're nobody's feeder club now.

We would be mad to sell Walker. Rose and Walker take us to another level when they are both firing on all cylinders. Teams cannot cope with both. Take out Walker and they can concentrate on Rose and blunt our effectiveness from both wings. The fact that so many other teams want Walker tells you all you need to know.

They want him because they know we have an excellent back up in Trippier. The main thing is that we don't need to strengthen other EPL teams. We've made it to the 'top table' and it's absolutely crucial that we do everything possible to stay there. We'll only sell abroad now IMO.

We never were. Have only sold players who demanded to leave as i recall....

Selling one player would be the start of it. The wheels come off soon after when said player triples his wages and maybe wins a trophy.

Keep them all together and win all the trophies...

We finally have a side capable of challenging for the league. You add to that you don't sell.

Us being so close i can't see levy or poch sanctioning any sales for our first 11, let alone to a direct rival, unless there was problems behind the scenes.

I wouldn't sell him to City, and I really like him as both a player and a character.

BUT - if we had to sell to be able to buy, he would be a strong candidate, and would fetch a pretty sum.

There's a fine balancing act to be done here. The squad needs strengthening - we want and need to do better in the CL. Quite substantially, I'd say if we had managed to get through to the CL quarters, as Leicester did, and perhaps progressed even further against Atletico, where would our PL challenge now be? Squads also been to be freshened up periodically, and that does mean moving players on - we can't stockpile players just so as not to strengthen rivals. Player trading does need to be financed from somewhere. I don't think we'll be pressured into selling any player against our will and without a strong concept of how that trade can be used to strengthen the squad even further, which is what Poch has been saying lately.

Trippier is very good but personally I feel Walker is better.
