Poch said in his pre match interview that Dembele had a reaction to his injury during training out there.

I think he’s slowly turning into Ledley and although Winks is doing very well and has a great future ahead of him we need to go into the transfer market for another CM.

Dembele's position in the squad needs serious consideration at the end of the season if you ask me. As good as he is, he's so unreliable.

Yep, need a box to box CM in the summer. Sadly I think he might leave if he carries on like this.

............................ Lloris ..........................

.......... Alderweireld... Sanchez................

Aurier................... Dier.............. Vertonghen

.............. Sissoko.......... Winks.................

............................Eriksen...........................

................... Kane...... Llorente/Son.............

Vorm, Trippier, Rose, Foyth, Alli, Georgiou, Llorente/Son

Toss up between Llorente, Son and Alli but we’ve Llorente who’s a handful and can hold the ball up, Son albeit yet to really turn up this season... will add pace up top and keep the shaky Liverpool defence pinned back and back then there’s Alli, bags of potential but been consistently poor for club and country this season.

Why Vertonghen left back when Rose and Davies are available?

Subs: Vorm, Trippier, Foyth, Sissoko, Nkoudou, Son, Llorente

Dynamic might be a stretch, but Llorente definitely occupied the Real defence allowing Kane a bit more time and space.
Yeah maybe I was still excited and a bit over the top, however he did allow Kane to be a bit deeper in the 10 role which looked good at times. Also allows us to hang balls into Llorente and players like Eriksen and Dele to run off him.

Good to see some selection headaches

Just go out all guns blazing - our 2nd string should be able to beat the Spammers

This is the only domestic team that last season had the better of us over both games. I would like us to setup as we did against Dortmund or at least do the opposite we did last season.
Giving Liverpool no space in behind and hitting them quickly on the break I believe is the way to go against them.

We need to go with a pragmatic approach this game. Gung ho approach havent worked against Liverpool in last few years. We should not go toe with toe with them. We should drop back & play counter attack. Dropping back also means likes of Salah dont have the space to run .

Having seen Poch's progression as a coach this season, I guess he will do this way.

You'd hope so. If he does then great.

I jumped on the "dynamic" bit but agree with you 100%. Opens up a whole new attacking angle for us.

I think Alli will start but I hope he doesn't.

He's a fantastic player but currently he's so out of form. Other players deserve the start more but Poch rarely ever drops him.

He's a match winner and can grab a goal out of nowhere. Can't beat having that on the pitch in games that will be tight.

Against Liverpool we need to command possession of the ball and without the ball we should press them vigorously.

With Sanchez at the back pace and Lloris alerted for his sweeper role we could keep a high line but I'd prefer we drop slightly at times depending.

Liverpool only have one way of playing (which by the way is lethal and a joy to watch when the sum of parts are in place)-press high and counter.

We need our press which imo is the better when we actually play that way and be clinical.

I didn't think we hung many long balls up to him during the RM match, to be honest - he seemed to get them to his feet with back to goal more? Don't get me wrong he did well, but I can't see Poch playing two up top V Liverpool.

I recall seeing a couple of really crucial bail out balls when they were pressing strongly, with Llorente holding it up and easing the pressure. I agree it's not our style but always good to be flexible and able to change if need be. It's good we have so many options now and Poch seems to be embracing them.

Liverpool will come out of the traps like a rabid dog for first 30 mins and press like fuck. We need an early goal to suppress this.
