Vicario
Royal - Romero - VDV - Udogie
Bissouma
Sarr - Lo Celso
Solomon - Richarlison - Son
I can't really be fussed whether it is Royal or Porro. I love the different qualities both bring and I'm happy to see either playing.
Ange has also indicated he wants to bring in some other players for starts to see how they perform. With the slight concern for Maddison, I think Gio should be given a go to see what he can do after a strong pre-season. A bit harsh on Deki because I thought he played well Saturday, but I think Solomon, too, would be exciting to see. He seemed to link really well with Richarlison in pre-season and assuming he is training well, I'd like to see him have a go.

I quite like this team. I think the contested spots will be RB & RWF, and would be happy with either Royal/Porro for RB and Soloman/Deki for RWF.

Lo Celso to take Maddisons spot could be the only change. But I agree that it could be interesting to see Solomon start. I could also do with Perisic starting on the left and Son starting on the right. Back 4 should build on the clean sheet they got. Anyway, I trust Ange.

-----------------Vicario----------------
Porro-----Romero------Van de Ven--Udogie
----------------Bissouma---------------
---------Sarr--------------lo Celso------------
-Solomon---------Richarlison----------Son

Subs:
Forster, Royal, Davies, Sanchez, Hojbjerg, Skipp, Perisic, Kulusevski, Scarlett

hope the empty spot on the bench goes to Scarlett (or Devine) and not another defender.

That’s a great point about the back four being rewarded for and building on their clean sheet. I just wonder if Royal shades it by a hair to Pedro Porro due to the uncertainties if we lose a little on the defensive side from choosing Solomon over Deki. I don’t have anything to justify this though just perception. Although I imagine Solomon is a little fucking terrier out there nipping at heels and could be right dangerous in the press.

Not exactly fair on Porro though to think that. I thought he was really strong defensively as the match went on against United. Probably had a better showing than Royal v Brentford to be fair

I always thought that our most successful sell under Poch was when we alternated full backs almost every game. It's a position that requires a lot of mileage. It was Walker / Rose one game then Trippier / Davies the next. It's less critical when we're playing once a week rather than twice a week from a burn out / injury point of view but I think it's still a good rule of thumb just to keep such critical positions sharp and helps to keep all players feeling valued and important. I suppose the slight issue at LB is that Davies is not the player he was and so swapping out Udogie is perhaps a step down but at RB I wouldn't be surprised to see both players get roughly equal game time over the season.

I'd be quite happy with a few rotation changes and players getting used to the idea that the whole squad will get minutes. GLC for Maddison is fine as are Emerson and Solomon for Porro and Deki. Use the subs to keep them engaged. I'm equally fine if Ange goes with the same team, injuries permitting.

Vic
Royal Romero VDV Udogie
Porro Biss Sarr Persic
Gio
Richie.
Udogie and Persic looked to have built up a good partnership with Udogie overlapping in preseason.
Persic and Porro or Solomon to get some crossing in for Richie with Gio and Sarr picking up any loose balls in the box.
Son and Deki to come on against tired legs.

I think resting the likes of Son and few others will come next Tuesday against Fulham in the cup

What's happening to the Argi guy?
Ange said that Veliz wouldn't get a minute at least in the first half of the season. He has a lot of learn before we can play him, especially the language. People said that he is more raw than Alvarez when he first went to the Premier League.

I actually think that the last 20 min of the utd match is what our front 3 will be to start the next match. Could also be done to light a fire under richi's ass.

Solomon has really impressed in training since joining so I wouldn't be surprised to see him get a start soon. Would say it's more likely he plays against Fulham though and if he impresses then he could potentially replace Deki for the Burnley game. Also wouldn't completely rule Maddison out, although I agree it's likely he misses out, he's really pushing to be involved.

I really hope we are taking every competition and every round of every competition seriously this year. This club needs to win something and I’m not keen on resting rotating players just for the sake of it.

Come on guys, one last waltz. A final chance to watch our departing players. My (mostly) 'outgoings' XI to face Bournemouth:

(5-2-3)

Lloris

Spence - Sanchez - Dier - (Davies) - Reguilon

PEH - Ndombele

Gil - Scarlett - Sess

How many more starts does Son get? Discuss. :sneaky:
I thought he was quite good against United and on another day could have had 1 or 2 goals and the odd assist. The early chance from Deki springs to mind, some misfiring with Maddison that will get worked out, the audacious back-heel nutmeg chance from Bissouma...I'm sure I'm forgetting others.
