I completely forgot he was even at Palace now! Which just shows how well he's been doing haha.

I suppose the success of Eriksen, Sanchez, Alderwiereld, and Vertonghen can really blind you to the fact that not all of Ajax's youth can make the step up.

If we are looking for a left footed centre back then I would love us to try for Zagadou at Dortmund. Is very raw and probably no chance of Dortmund selling but he is going to be a beast.

On Modric & Bale, we have first refusal (I am told), and we have been informed. Also told that both would be willing. As I always say, does not mean we will deal on either/both, due to finances.
Only way I could see it even as a remote possibility, of compromise on wages, and realistic fees. We would obviously create a bespoke DL bonus scheme.

Gettin the band back together hey.

On one hand it would be super cool to have Modric and Bale back but let's face it, neither are getting any younger or less injury prone in Bale's case. It doesn't make sense for us to do it.

I agree on Bale, he's too prone to injury. But the games against us proved Modric has a few years left in him, and he would be a fantastic mentor to Winks!

That said, if Poch decides he wants Bale, I would welcome him back. If only just for a reason to stick our tongues out at ManU.

I'm sure there'd be some value to Winks having Modric around but I think it would be offset by having to spend more time on the bench watching his mentor take his playing time.

Not sure about Modirc but as I mentioned last summer, we've always had first option on Bale. There's a set amount we would need to pay to enable us to have the first option. However Bales wages is another issue. I don't know the ins and outs of how these deals are concluded but its obvious to everyone we wouldn't be paying £300k P/W. But if we put the effort of having this option in his initial transfer then I'm sure DL might come up with a way of tempting Bale back to his home!

i think the concept of a first option holds more weight than it does in reality. it essentially means nothing if the player doesn't want the move and the only way the selling club would have to accept an offer from the buying club is if a fee had been pre-agreed.

Bale no thanks. He was superb for us but since injuries have hit him hard.

Modric would be a good signing but would be shocked if he left anytime soon
