Bordeaux star Malcom has admitted he would relish the chance to fulfil his "dream" of playing in the Premier League amid interest from Arsenal and Tottenham.

The Brazilian has seen both north London clubs closely linked with an approach in recent weeks, with a transfer possible as early as this current transfer window.

For their part, Bordeaux have played down the talk, insisting there has been no official contact for their gem.

But Malcom confessed that he would love to star in the English top flight while refusing to confirm his future in Ligue 1.

"I don't know [if I will go]. If I do leave, that would be fine," he explained to reporters after Bordeaux's 1-0 defeat of Nantes on Saturday.

"I will be grateful to Bordeaux, that's life. If I have to stay I will, and I will do my job. It is true that England is a dream for every player."

Bordeaux director Nicolas de Tavernost, meanwhile, underlined his club's desire to keep Malcom until the end of the season.

"We don't want him to go, he will be at Bordeaux for the second half of the season," the businessman said.

"We think he could leave this summer if the club find the right offer, but right now we need him."

Goal understands that Arsenal have pulled out of the race to sign Malcom in the January window, although would be willing to discuss a transfer in the summer.

Arsene Wenger's side are not willing to pay the French club's £44 million asking price for Malcom but do remain confident they could strike a deal at the end of the season.

The Gunners have prioritised the signings of Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, with both players having now agreed personal terms, and believe that the experience the duo possess can push them further up the Premier League table in the

Interesting reading between the lines what both the player and Bordeaux director don't say...that a deal could be done whixh entails Malcom staying there till the summer.

He says the player will stay, and then could go in the summer which is the same deal we are heading we are close to completing.

Why the argument - what’s the big deal? Go back and actually read what I said on page 33. You will see that I said I would prefer players who have won things in their respected leagues or competitions. Why have we not got the finances to buy someone from a lessor league? Why is this now elevated? No I’m not going to find examples because I don’t know enough about individual players. It’s a philosophy - a winning mentality. But then again that’s obviously just plain silly.

But we've got eight of these players in the squad already. How many do we need?

So did Paulinho, which shows how pointless his point was.

At the end of the day winning things means nothing, what has Kane won? Bugger all, yet that doesn't mean he's not one of the top 3 strikers in the world right now.
Exactly, same could potentially be said of Sissoko if we win something in the next couple of seasons.

It bears very minimal relation to the talent of one particular individual imo.

The right ones!! Like it or not we go to the top clubs grounds (Madrid excepted), and play like rabbits in headlights. Probably an over exaggeration granted. Next step and all that.

The interesting dilemma is Malcom v Moura. My argument suggests Moura, but I couldn’t say it would work out for the best. I don’t know but then again I’m not paid to know - I just pay!

I'd say that's more to do with the way Poch sets us up than players being scared.

No Nailsy, in my opinion it’s ultimate belief. That extra 0.5%. Even Harry. I love the guy and hope he’ll/we’ll get there. I’ll give up for now as it’s not getting through.

Yes because he’s going to willingly give us his best player because he played for us for a few years.

Just as likely to recommend him to Chelsea too.

I think our only hope is him wanting to spend money this window and therefore asking the chairman to take the money for Malcom to accommodate it.

Why would Poyet decide where he goes? Surely all he does is decide if the player is in his plans or not? If not, it's down to the chairman/board to find the best deal.

The Bordeaux fans aren’t liking his recent comments to Bein.
This is why I wonder why they want to keep him - hard to imagine he stays focused for them all season. If his mind is elsewhere, and you are resigned to moving him in the summer, might just be best to move him now - even knowing you are in a relegation battle.
