My only worry would have come if Levy didn’t start being a little more proactive in the transfer market. We have had snippets of ITK in the past about Poch getting a little fed up with not getting in the players he wanted but with Moura seemingly on the way now and Malcom maybe coming in th summer it does seem like Levy is trying to rectify things. With he opening of New White Heart Lane round the corner I’m sure the club will be doing everything in its power to keep Poch happy.

Things like this are going to be written I guess, media blah blah blah.

On saying that, the same newspaper has Madrid buying 500 million (half a billion) quids worth of footballer this summer ...

Tbh honest I'm a bit surprised if they are that interested in him. He's never won anything and doesn't strike me as their 'superstar' style of coach at all. He won't be given a chance to build a team with youngsters. If he doesn't win the league within two years he'll be out. He'll get lots of cash for sure but all it'll do is put him on the merry go round of Galatico coaches like Ancelotti and Mourinho- never settling anywhere. Looks a bad fit both ways to me.

Agree with this. Real presidential elections are in 2019. I'd have thought they'd have wanted a manager who has trophies but could also make an immediate impact. Poch takes a year or two to get the players playing how he wants and his training methods are hard which might not go down too well with some superstars.
Conte seems a better fit for them. Unless they think poch would bring kane with him.

Anyway no point worrying about it.

Not sure his style of coaching would work with superstar players and egos. Even if it did, he would need a year to implement it fully and Madrid aren't that patient.

I think it'd be a massive mistake if he left.

I tend to agree. He needs time to work with player & whilst he may some of the best, they may not take to his high pressing etc. as younger more malleable players, plus RM need instant success for their fans & their status & I doubt he'll get the time to achieve anything there.

I wouldn't touch that club, whilst the toxic Ronaldo is still there. He has far too great a share of voice which considering his better days are now behind him is dangerous. If Ronaldo leaves this year. Bale, Isco, etc will start to flourish.

Yeh, as others pointed out, I’m expecting Mourinho to say something about how Poch would fit in at Madrid or something in the build up.

Going to lose ronaldo and have a shocking defence. Its going to be a tough job for the first season. Barcelona have already got their business done and real are now playing catch up.

I understand the argument you are making and it is a very fair one, but the counter to it is that many of those players have been improved, in some cases vastly (our FB's for example) and made into the players they are, by Pochettino's work.

The contrast would be someone like Redknapp who had probably 5/6/7 top drawer players King/Gallas/Parker/Modric/Bale/Adebayor/VDV - as well as Walker/Rose (if you happen to think they are top class - I don't) and couldn't achieve what Pochettino did, in terms of results and consistent performances.

I think it's fair to review and judge the performance of the team based on what they are "now" as opposed to "what they are compared to their salaries and transfer fees etc" but we have to be fair and say Poch heavily contributed to that "now" and possibly, even based on how good he made them, still perhaps over achieved in outperforming 2/3 of the best clubs in this league. IMO.
TBF I did say Poch deserves a lot of credit for those players increasing their value

TBF Real Madrid only has one superstar imo and thats Ronaldo and even he's been linked with a move away every other week

Everyone else's ego has had to take a backseat because of ronaldo

As for a year, tbh, this is real madrid, he will get some sort of success regardless of the transition period

watching sky today they were up to there usual mantra of selling Kane;ali;erricson and alerwield not being satisfied with that they are now trying to sell poch to Madrid . I believe they should go the whole hog and auction the ground and then they can do away with spurs forever twats

I seriously wish Balague would just shut the fuck up already. I don't get it, is he supposed to be Pochetino's personal assistant, his boy toy, or what?

Why?? Balague is a journalist who has undoubtably got a decent relationship with Poch and he also said he doesn’t think Poch will go, which is bloody good news if true

In some point in his career he deserves to be managing one of the biggest clubs. I just worry that he wouldn’t get the appreciation he deserves at one of these clubs.

He is still young and his work here is just beginning and is not complete. He could easily become legendary status here instead of another 2-3 season manager that wins something, but sacked for not winning the quadruple.

Maybe I’ve got Spurs glasses, but Pochettino, doesn’t appear to suit a Barcelona, Real Madrid, Chelsea, or a Man City where success is about what signing you’ve made, and players bought without prior knowledge or any say.

To me, Pochettino is someone that buys his own players that fit his work ethic, and not on how many lollipops they can do. I’m not sure that going for a more team player rather than an luxury player would go down well at these clubs.

The boards and fans would want that marque signing every season, that doesn’t care about the club and its fans, and having that team bound and spirit that Poch tries to instil would be wasted.

He would never be able to be a legend at these clubs, you’re either a legend already being a past galactico, or star player, or legend of the nation of the club.

So, maybe a bias point of view but to me something like that wouldn’t appeal to him, but money talks and temptation to win big trophies talks I suppose.

Maybe Poch has taken us as far as he can, really worries me he continues to pick Dier and Sissoko. Harry and AVB got good finishes in the Prem with worse squads, so not the end of the world if he leaves. I hope Levy is drawing up a list of potential mangers just in case Real steal him away. I have no idea who we would go for.

lol Harry and AVB would never get anywhere near the levels that Poch has achieved with this squad, a squad Poch has built himself, also when those two were managers the top 6 wasn't as competitive as it is now.
