I mean we seem to be replacing fringe players most of the time, who then are moved on because they arent afforded time to settle

Our core of our squad has been here throughout poch's tenure the last 4 or 5 windows hasnt seen much improvement overall
Good post.. hopefully moura can add some new flavour to things

As @coys200 said we were unfortunate in the end. We played better than Kashiwa imo but didn't take our chances and then played the winners the following day while they were rested. I also read or heard we had the youngest squad so to put it in perspective it wasn't bad at all.

When you realise our potential bench for Liverpool could be
Vorm
Alderweireld
Aurier
Wanyama
Lamela
Moura
Llorente

With sissoko winks davies foyth KWP not even in matchday squad. You can see how tough it’s gonna start getting for the kids.

While Trippier wasn't perfect today, his game showed some areas of improvement/ evolution and a lot of positives. I wonder whether he will be moved on in the summer to create space for KWP? Not certain after today.

think it'll depend on what kind of offers we'd recieve for him. If a liecester come in with anything north of 25 I think we'd be stupid not to take the deal.

which is why we need to make better use of the loan system rather than this idealistic/unrealistic approach of them all just seamlessly transitioning into first team players with no previous first team experience. it's not even just a lack of senior games either, it's a lack of games full stop as once poch gets them into his training system they're apparently not allowed to play anymore and if it wasn't for internationals they would be going full seasons without playing in any kind of competitive match environment.

I guess this is a new problem for Poch and one he hasn't previously had to deal with. At previous clubs, he has either had a B team or a not-so-strong first team to bring youth on. I think we should cut him some slack in that he is learning how to deal with this problem and he's shown himself not averse to changing his approach

Which is all well and good, but why then whenever any questioned what he was doing, or suggesting he could be doing things better were fans just being shouted down. Or assumed they didn't know anything or were just plain wrong, because Poch disagreed. He is clearly struggling as just like other managers of top clubs, and is now changing his own methods, in line with what most clubs do and fans suggested, but the last 3/4 years were spent accusing fans of not knowing what they were on about, and to just trust his philosophy.

I still don't know why he can't just give players a chance if he thinks they are good enough. Where would Sancho be if he was still at City, probably still being told he isn't ready. Dortmund gave him the no.7 shirt with no loans and went straight from youth team football into the Bundesliga, who'd have thought that was possible. Plenty of ours would be in the same position if they left.

On that note, Arsenal have lost 4 players now, Willock, Crowley, Hinds and now McGuane to clubs abroad. Willock and McGuane are good players so good luck to them. Crowley appears to need this opportuntiy to reignite his career, never really rated Hinds though.

Also Mount is absolutely tearing up Eredivisie, yet he'll come back to Chelsea and probably won't get a chance, as he's 'not ready' whereas they'd probably go and buy someone like Neres and give him chances.

Wonder how long before our players start leaving, unless they're still under the managers spell. I know a few clubs abroad have looked at a couple of our players, and our players have shown an interested but nothing materialised. Not everyone is brave enough to make that jump I guess

But these lads will still be involved in 11 v 11 matches in training where they will gain the experience of going up against the first team players.
The likes of Dier, Wanyama,Jan etc will be just as competitive in training as match days so it provides the perfect environment to assess the youngsters.
If they're dancing around Vic and Jan before smashing the ball past Lloris regularly then I'm sure they would be getting plenty of game time.
We all want players like Onomah and Edwards to succeed and replace Sissoko but Poch will have matched them up during training matches and seen Sissoko boss them. And until he sees the opposite they aren't playing.

I suspect the loans are Poch's way of saying they are not developing as they should and need to experience life further down the leagues to understand it isn't any easier and they need to work harder if they want to make it as just moving them back into youth football won't help them.
It's no surprise that KWP hasn't gone anywhere because he is now the most promising youngster we have. And he'll learn a lot more trying to stop Kane, Alli, Eriksen, Son etc every day in training matches/attack v defence exercises than he will in the Championship.

And which one of our first teamers do you think are doing this?
