We need both. A better footballing 6 than Dier and a more creative 8 than Dembele. I accept the 8 is more of a priority because we have Wanyama, who's already a better 6 than Dier, but I'd still like both because Dier's not a Cm and Dembele's for the glue factory soon.
You really need to let up on this Dembele is finished mantra because he keeps proving otherwise and more importantly Poch clearly sees it differently. It is funny that after Walker’s departure two of your most criticised players have been Dembele and Son. We all love Eriksen but we can’t play with 10 Eriksens much as you might want us to.

Lampard is the equivalent of Alli not Dembele. Lampard usually had 2 of Essien, Makelele, Obi Mikel or Geremi who would have scored about 3 and assisted similar between any 2 of them.

When Utd last won the CL, they often played with Carrick and either Hargreaves or fletcher, who had 3 goals and 3 assists between them.

But didn't they also have Tevez, Ronaldo and Rooney all in their prime up front...

Have they, really ? Not Sissoko, Alli, Rose, Aurier, Dier (as a CM) ? You've not been paying attention, surely?

Has he really ? Come on, be serious. We have 9 games to go and Dembele didn't even put two decent games together until last month, and has been pretty meh since Juve away. His influence on the last two seasons has not been significant. And he is not getting younger and is still struggling to play 90 minutes even on his good days. And with Wanyama out there, we don't need another defensively robust player, we need someone who can see and play a pass quickly and inject some tempo into those attritional games. Dembele on a good day can be a fucking trojan, but those good days are pretty rare the last couple of years. We need a CM who can bring their a game for more than 5/6 times a season.

And this isn't Poch's summer wish list, it's mine (and yours).

You criticise a lot of players and love Eriksen, but the “bumble/fumble” nonsense seems to be reserved for Dembele and Son.

Even on a good day you don’t see Dembele’s value to the team. You continuously fail to see how his ability to beat a man in the middle of the pitch creates so much space for others, most notably Eriksen. Yes we need to be looking for a long term replacement, not sure why you’ve gone off Winks or can still be beating the Onomah drum, but in the short term we need to concentrate on keeping Dembele fit because we are almost unplayable when he and Eriksen are on song st the same time.

What I continue to see is him beating a man in midfield and then not doing anything incisive. Dembele has about as many great games a season as Eriksen does bad ones. That's why we need CM's, and not an Eriksen replacement.

He doesn't create much space for Eriksen as Eriksen is now having to play most games as a de facto CM just so the ball manages to escape midfield.

Son does some wonderful stuff, but he still fucks about too. I love the fella one week and he drives me nuts the next. But you can't pretend he's not a bumbler, even his last two goals he bumbled in.

Always rated Ben Yedder ...would've been my dream signing instead of Janssen back then... But can't see him wanting to sit on our bench. Gameiro would be another one, could be our Giroud - in sense of super sub, not playing style...

For someone who is clearly tactically very astute I personally think you have got this one very wrong.

Eriksen drops into central midfield for one of two reasons:

1. The opponents have two very two tight defensive banks and there is no space between the lines.
... and/or ...
2. We switch to a 4-3-3 and Eriksen plays deeper alongside Dembele and Wanyama/Dier (as happened after Lamela came on against Bournemouth).

I do get part of where you are coming from, Dembele's age and fitness means we should have one eye on succession planning and we should be looking to upgrade (which must always be the intention whoever is being replaced). However, Dembele still has a crucial role to play for us in the next 18-24 months, and he is one of our senior players crucial to the way we play best. Poch has developed him this last year and he makes many more incisive middle third to last third vertical passes now. He is also a ball and player magnet in the middle third of the pitch which is invaluable, and one of the main reasons we totally dominated Man U, Arsenal and Liverpool last month.

Stuttgart director Michael Reschke has warned clubs off Benjamin Pavard, telling Bild: "If in the summer of a club believes they can sign him for €30m, this club is wrong. We would not even open the door for a conversation." Spurs may have to look elsewhere. #THFC #COYS #VfB

If Alderweireld left I would like to see Dier moved to CB and buy a new midfielder.

Out of your list I would go with Lascelles.

Going by google, Benjamin is a CB who can play as a across the back line and also fill in at RB/DM. Preparing for life after Toby it seems?

Got to say I’m actually really confused what we need now if we need anything at all. We seem to have so many ways of playing it’s very hard to pin point certain players in any position apart from defence. Is there really a better back up striker in the league right now than Son? The only one I’d think of taking over him is Rashford. Let’s be honest if we can find someone better than Son to sit on our bench that’s gonna be a minor miracle. CM is very confusing especially as I now quite like the idea of Eriksen deeper. I think whoever we bring in has to very flexible. I actually like the idea of a powerhouse winger/Am it’s something we don’t have like a Bailey or even a Michal Antonio when he was looking good. I think it’s important to have variety in styles.
