The front of the west stand is really annoying. Feels like it’s been same for about 2 months with no obvious progress. Be nice to see some movement with the veil or the north/west corner finished off. Terrible for my OCD ?

No chance it's complete by August. Absolutely no idea why others would think that it would. Having looked at the recent pictures and seen it myself, I'm mystified as to why we would rush the project to meet an unreasonable deadline of the middle of August. Quality and safety then become an issue in such a huge project in that short window.

Just my opinion based on experience in the business.

I will say, it absolutely looks spectacular. The players must be as excited as the fans...have to be. Especially our own...Harry and Winksy
In your experience in the business have you often seen a stadium demolished and a new stadium built to the level this one is now in a corresponding timescale?

Yes. Here in the States, there have been multiple old stadiums demolished and rebuilds on the existing site. To this scale and magnitude and deadline of the NWHL, it's an arduous task with an unreasonable due date for the middle of August is my opinion.

What are your thoughts?

I have zero experience in construction of any kind. To my laymen's eye i just cannot see how it can be ready in little over 3 months, but we have some very smart and motivated people running this thing, so going to have to trust that they know what they are doing.

My thoughts are that a lot of work was done on the North and West and a chunk of the East by this time last year and I know that the internals/utilities were well under way, I think a lot of people looking at the stadium six months ago would have said that we would not have got to this stage by now furthermore I think the percentage of people in the business with experience in that group would be higher than the average, sometimes we can know too much on a subject to be able to think through the obvious.
If you can tell me why we won't finish the roof, install all the seats, finish the floodlights, clad the south stand and put in the turnstyles by mid August I'd appreciate it because as I see it thats all you need to stage a game/test event.

I disagree. how are we considerably behind that? I would say we are almost in an identical position to where they were?
Maybe internally, the externals though look much further along in that image, I mean that site looks from outside its just seats, laying the pitch and finishing the roof. Its pretty hard to judge how far a site is from the externals so its really hard to tell, but oour stadium has a lot of work left externally, in terms of finishing the shell.

Even in the bowl itslef, we have a lot of scaffolding still up in the athletico stadium there basically no scaffolding on the inside. The structure is pretty much entirely finished in the Athletico one.

None of those were on top of the existing footprint of the old stadium.

The due date isn't unreasonable at all. The pitch and roof will probably be done by the end of June and people will wonder what they got all worked up about. It's moving at an incredible pace.

Same here. Doesn't look at all finished. There were sheets covering columns of seats in places

I kind of liked how you can just walk in and directly onto terrace with minimal fuss but I would hate to watch a match there

I was thinking all the way through whether we'd ever host the Stones at NWHL

I was there too and 74 year old Mick looked fitter than most of the team that play there?

A friend working on the site says it will be late. His reasoning for this was an issue with one of the main structures that hasn’t passed safety checks. Said Mace called emergency meeting last week to find a way to rectify it.

He is a West Ham fan and I’m calling bullshit but thought I’d share in any case

Surely you also have to have the food and drink outlets working, plus all the toilets, and any handrails, staff needed etc etc sorted?

I’ve watched a lot of Changing Rooms. They always look miles off with only half an hour to go, yet always pull it off.

I’m confident.

Could always phone Nick Knowles and get the DIY SOS big build team in as a last resort.

Absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with the stadium, but I'll say it. That program always fucking gets me :cry:

@ryantegan He's not the same tit that threw a wet ham scarf into the footings is he?

I'd have kicked him square in the fanny* for that and then kicked him there again just for being a wet ham fan. (Thanks for sharing btw)

*NB. If you're American reading this then you're about an inch and half out.
