For what Højbjerg is and do, he did well today. But we know he's a work horse, can't be paired with another and expect us to have a midfield.

Thought he had a pretty good game personally. Still think he is likely to go next month, and I think that's for the best in the long run, but did ok tonight.

In fairness to him teams like Brighton are his nemesis. He's so not press resistant and they're very good at closing the options off and putting pressure on the ball. He looked better when we were dominating the last 15 but the damage was done

He was ok if you only look at the few decent obvious things he did - which were a couple of good balls in the oppositions half.
But he can’t handle the ball in pressure situations. he ruins our system and heaps pressure on the defence by isolating himself behind an opposition player or actively hiding from the ball when we are playing out from the back.
It’s so frustrating and for all his shouting and pointing, it’s actually cowardly.

He is not ok, he is shit. At fault for the first goal. Constantly pointing and not tackling.

He's one of those players who in certain situations can be OK and occasionally shows glimpses, but ultimately isn't good enough or right for how we want to play.
He's one of the squad players who can likely command a reasonable fee. As his contract has 18 months left, I believe, then he has to be someone we should be looking to sell next month.

He was terrible it frustrates me people can't see this.
He plays well as no.8 in Ange's system but he's got the reputation of a bruiser and gets misidentified as a DM. He is great off the ball as a DM but he can't play with his back to the opposition's goal. Skipp is so much better at progressing the ball than Hojberg under pressure.
In the first triangle today, you had Royal, Davies and Hojberg. Davies is the best player under the press. Now against Brighton, a high pressing team this was suicide
Now Hojberg is a great player in the last 20 mins or against the low block as he has the time and pace to pick out balls, make runs and be more aggressive but as a DM he is shocking

The issue is he was playing like an 8. He looked OK pressing forward but was leaving gaps. I think its why some will say he played well because in isolation he looked fine. However he should be judged as the 6 of the team and he played the role poorly. I think it was part of the issue Sarr had because Hojbjerg was coming out of the 6 position too often. I would bring Skipp back in on Sunday as I feel he is not as loose in that role as Hojbjerg.

He goes hiding. He plays in a position I played at Sunday league level. When I realised I was getting out of my depth due to being old I stopped showing for ball and stand where a pass wasn't on and I'd do a lot of pointing

He does hide at times when the CB's have the ball. He did it a few times last night he wouldn't make an angle for the pass which is frustrating to watch but also understandable as he just doesn't have the technical ability to take the ball on half turn. He's a good player in a system that suits him but in our system he just isn't suitable. Will never slag him off as he's been a good servant and has played through pain and injuries and flogged under Jose and Conte & never complained.

He'll be off within the month anyway and I don't blame him.
Some of the comments on here are well out of order, he's a very good player, ok this isn't his perfect system but he doesn't let us down and he never slacks, quite honestly he deserves better.

Does get too much stick and does the best he can with his limitations
I think the hope was we were getting a Wanyama type, level player and he’s just not quite hit those heights

He's a good player and needs to move to a team that will play a system where he can shine. He can't do what is needed of a midfielder in our system, that doesn't mean he's shit, it means he doesn't fit.
I think if we weren't decimated by injuries he'd be last in the pecking order - behind Sarr, Skipp, Bentancur and Bissouma. We need to get a fee for him and invest that money back into the squad.

PEH I would say is currently more likely to leave than stay in the Jan window with interest and we have interest in a replacement from Serie A but the name evades me currently.
