Poor today but he clearly is going to be better with our best attackers around too
I don't think he starts if all are fit atm since Richarlison is doing well enough up top so front 3 will be Son, Richarlison and Kulusevski
Also now with Werner and with Soloman due back soon he will have competition for his place
Not worried about him but we're just wanting that more from him because of all the players out

I couldn't disagree more. I think he's average at best.

But I respect your opinion. My old man likes him too. I just don't see it at all.
Agree with this. Barring a couple of nice assists he’s way too wasteful in the final third just as he was at Forest which was always a concern for me.

Most frustrating thing about today was him getting Wan Bissaka booked early and then failing to go at him. (Thats a real pet hate of mine for a winger - not just aimed at Johnson)

I think he’ll be an impact sub when everyone’s fit anyway.

Poor fit, lacks passing ability, stamina and work rate (hope that last two are because of his ruined preaseason with the injury). Still has 1 goal and 4 assists in 17 matches which isn't terrible but not really great either. Kulusevski can miss sitters but he still runs more than anyone and does perfect job at pressing. If Johnson doesn't score or assist then it means he was shit since he doesn't offer much else. There was one game not too long ago where he was really good (can't remember which one exactly) so I still have some hope.

But he's as soft as a feather when it comes to challenges and 50/50s. Needs to be braver on and off the ball.
This is more and more relevant tonight. He's too soft.

If he was even 25% more aggressive he'd have probably gotten a goal or assist. Just shys away from any sort of tackle. He could have had Wan Bissaka on toast a couple of times.

Whatever it is that some see in him, I don't.

My biggest concern is his lack of conviction. He's not entering into 50/50s, not taking on his man, losing composure in critical moments, not contributing defensively. If he does have the talent that some see, I don't think he has the balls to bring it to bear at a club of this size.

Embarrassing lack of patience and support from lots of fans on here and other social media sites. Where’s your support for a young lad improving and trying his hardest for us?

Strangest thing is he’s not even been that bad. He’s had some decent output and is handling playing more and having more responsibility than expected due to injuries quite well. It’s frankly a bit pathetic the level of whining because he’s not the finished product yet. So many people will be eating their words in 12 months.

Not his best game today and poor at times, but he's got plenty of time to come good (I mean in real life not on SC :D). He needs to work on his delivery (obviously) but I thought he linked up well at times, took up some good positions and showed well for the ball.

It's not all bad with him, he's a young player and i'm sure the club will give him the time to grow and develop his game.

He's young. He's a work in progress. Yes, it's quite a bit of progress but given his age, writing him off is silly (or silly). as others noted, probably best to bench him for a bit to take pressure off.

He's been pretty bad for a while but doesn't mean he's hopeless. Remember the same shit being said about so many players, recently Porro.

As I mentioned in the match thread, currently he’s a bench player to bring on against tired legs not a starter. At 22 that’s absolutely fine. I’m not sure he has the raw ability to ever be elite but I do think used in the right way by the right manager he could be a good asset. For the moment he just needs time to develop and find some rhythm. The sooner he is not a guaranteed starter due to injuries the better imo.

Probably his worst game today. Absolutely bottled challenges and rushed everything. He lacks composure and aggression. These things can come with time. But today was not a good showing.

That first tackle on him by Wan Bissaka was enough to shut him up for the rest of the game. After that tackle he just shat himself everytime Wan Bissaka even breathed on him.

He's just very timid and I'm not sure if that can be coached out of someone as it just seems part of his nature.

I'm more than happy to give the lad more time and patience. He just currently has assists which are good but if you cant do everything else to help the team, I'd rather not have those assists and have someone who will Press, track and make the system function more efficiently.

Tedious straw man comment imo. No-one is writing him off, he's a good squad player with a hefty price tag tho.

Im not really seeing his final ball or decision making improving at all as the season is progressing. Hes just rapid. Obviously he needs a bit more time to develop, but I wouldn’t be adverse to selling if a decent offer came in during the summer.

We aren’t selling him in the summer, so I’d just get that thought of mind. Ange knows he’s a project, and we need to back him, not flog him before he’s hardly played in a fully fit XI.

Let’s be honest, with all players fit he doesn’t start for us. He will be a very good option off the bench and needs time from us.

Unfortunate price tag. If he'd come in for £15-£20m then he'd get a lot less stick. I don't see whatever the club does personally, but he's got plenty of time to improve and I'll back him all the way. Not like we have a plethora of options at the moment.

He's doing as expected. He wouldn't be starting if we had everyone available (Son/Mads/Kulu/Richy). He is just getting game-time now which would hopefully speed up his development. In terms of price-tag; most would agree it's due to him being British and having some potential to improve. Therefore it doesn't make sense to bash him for his current performances.
