I haven’t seen any of this kid and I see a lot of people are excited. The thing with young players as sometimes they don’t develop into the player you’d hope, so my expectation is somewhat muted. If we get him though I wish him all the best.

So, what you are saying is no Nusa, is good Nusa?

Very true and that is why he is available to us and at the quoted price of under €30m.

However, it is risk vs reward, and the reward with Nusa could be amazing.

However as with all risks, he could fail.

It is worth risking at that price though imo.

He’s also only ever played at a really low level of competition, I keep seeing statistical comparisons where he’s top in everything, but he’s playing in the Belgian league, it’s a huge step up to the premier league, especially for small tricky wingers. It makes me wonder how our own players would fair playing against the likes of Westerloo and Eupen week in week out. I bet Gil would look like Messi over there, and suspect our own talented youngsters like Santiago, Donley and Moore would be blowing everyone away too.

He's not going to slot straight in and work miracles imo. People will need to be patient.

can anyone get their balls out for this transfer or is it restricted to those with blue backgrounds?
you are restricted to one a day - left one today and right one tomorrow - repeat until signing complete - watch the zipper though

The caveats about the Belgian league are spot on - and due caution is warranted. I do hope that our scouting teams have accounted for the league difficulty - and given the recent track record, I think they get the benefit of the doubt.

(though I laugh when I think about the conversations around Potter - who had his best seasons managing in the 3rd and 4th division in the Swedish league - about 100 rungs lower than the Belgian first division...)

Yep good video. I’m not sure from this where the hype is but got to trust the scouting process.
I have to agree, that was pretty underwhelming but our recruitment team and more importantly Ange have a really good eye for a player so I'll trust them

The reality is that you have to take risks to unearth top players. Modric was from a pretty low level league compared to the Premier League. Bale came from the lower divisions. It could be one where a Dortmund takes a chance and he ends up a 100m player in a few years. It's that point we are out of the running so we need to be first. I think with young potential it's a matter of casting the net and making sure you have plenty of youth prospects. Then the chances are higher that 1 or 2 turn out great.

Considering Johnson scored 8 goals in the premier league last season and fans expected him to be tearing it up for us I hope that they do give this kid a lot of time to settle in as he’s going to need it. If we sign him for the start of next season I don’t expect him to start having meaningful impacts until the season after at the earliest and could take longer.
