It certainly is a strange one for Brentford, a huge amount of money (for them) for someone so young and unproven.

For the player, it's the right move (imo), much more chance of becoming a starter sooner rather than later.

At Spurs he'd be behind Son, Kulusevski, Johnson, Werner and Soloman. I also don't agree with Spurs "just pay what they want" argument. At 25m that's far too much, that's Bentancur and Kulusevski money.

He looks good and certainly very good for his age, but I'd rather we put that to someone who's a starter now.
Yes, there were players ahead of him in his position but it must have been even more off-putting to see that even if nobody is available in your position, you still don't get game time. Ask Dorrington, Philips and even Donley.

Maybe we’ve decided he isn’t all that.

Or Ange simply wouldn’t guarantee him starts and or a certain allotment of minutes. Ange is a man built on earning your keep, and he wouldn’t guarantee minutes/starts to an 18 year old coming from the Belgian league even if he’s a top prospect.

I’m sure Nusa was interested in us, and he probably liked what Ange had to say. But in the end, he was offered (apparently) starts/minutes at a club in the PL and they are obviously going to be willing sellers eventually, when he’s probably what? 21-22 years old?

This is the same at any big club. Of course it’s going to be easier for him to get games at Brentford, the same as it’s easier for e.g Johnson to get games at Spurs than it would be at Man C.

Well I have decided that he is not only "all that"
But he is also a bag of chips...

Basically what I'm saying is.

You know, maybe he is the next big thing but I wonder then how come all of Man C, Liverpool, Arsenal, Man U, Chelsea, Villa, Brighton, West Ham, Juve, Inter, Milan, Madrid, Barca etc, etc. have passed on him. He’s going to Brentford… Brentford. It’s not just us, it seems like no one bigger than Brentford wanted him right now, presumably.

25 mil bid, doesn’t sound like it’s as done as others said earlier. Interesting the Brighton also had him on their list. Three teams that have a data approach all liking him. Seems to happen quite a lot recently.

Because the UAE man city spies have their dirty little nuts in a vice and are ready to squeeze if charges are levied against them

Apparently. :cautious:

Those English teams could be shopping in Primark for the foreseeable.

Man Utd's future proofing now consists of sending out Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes to stud and hoping in 16 years they have a player...

Maybe he's gambling on being a success in the Premier league and earning himself a big move later so he's chosen Brentford, because he likes a bet😉

Santiago actually in his position has been on the bench a few times lately after a very good season for the u21s, and hasn't seen a minute on the pitch.

That's that then. We made a good offer, got in early but the player wanted something else.

Would have been a nice little hit and hope for the future but meh.

Brentford's record transfer (Nathan Collins, cb) is €27m, but they've also spent €25m on Schade, €19m on Lewis-Potter and €15m on Damsgaard recently, who are all in that forward area and were more established... crazy money in PL at the mo, I guess.

Weird thing on this one is any banter largely seems to have been started by Spurs fans self-flagellating, a bit like when the Dragusin offer came in from Bayern. Don't think anyone else cared until then.

Oof, I’m honestly really bummed out by this. I’ll just say it again, we’ll regret not getting him while we have the chance.

I'd be gutted if he Chelsea over us (if they were in for him), but no one really can blame the player for chosing first team football at Brentford than being Son's understudy for 2 or 3 years.

For me if that was indeed the case, that shows a lack of belief.

He's not getting a starting spot where he is, so why would he expect to be an automatic starter in the PL.

Where is his ambition in going to a side where the best he could hope for is amid-table finish in a side that will never be considered anything other than that?

Gutted by this, I would love to have a player from my local club at Tottenham.

Crossing my fingers WLB is right, and there is still room for a twist in our favor.

When did we have the chance? He and his team said it was too big of a step up for him at this stage of his career
