Don’t want us to spend £40m + on this guy. Don’t think he’s all that personally, plus it seems like he’s been forced out due to their FFP issues, rather than even really wanting to come.

Would rather we put funds like that towards a forward.

Or Adam Wharton as a long term plan. I don't see where Gallagher fits in at all, especially at the price suggested.

I will almost put money down that they end up shifting him on a weird deal to saudi in the summer for 50 mil. he comes back to prem on loan a year following that, they give him a monster contract in saudi to bite the bullet for a year to help cook the books

I know it makes sense not to have too many midfielders but it's worth remembering that we get through five or six midfielders in a game, Hojbjerg is not a starter but he played a part most games even before our injuries and AFCON.
A few people asked why Chelsea didn't accept the West Ham bid but it is possible the player blanked it, maybe knowing of our interest maybe not but if they're not going to give him a new contract he can make his own decisions.

Long-term I don't think PEH, Skipp or GLC make it with us.

3 from Bissouma, Sarr, Bentancur, Maddison, Gallagher gives us a ton of options and depth and time to bring through some of the kids.

I'm assuming that the early return of Pape Sarr from the ACN after yesterday's shoot-out defeat will take some of the pressure off Spurs to add to their midfield numbers?
I don’t think that was ever the reason

Mentioned him before, this would be a quality addition and a preference over Gallagher.

Also wouldn't be necessary to facilitate a permanent move for Hojbjerg this window either.

Trying to find something to disagree with in that but can't find a single word.

Agree with this, with Deki potentially being an option to replace Maddison in certain situations.

I don't understand Chelsea with this. If they 'need' to sell for FFP then at some point they would need to sell. Thinking about selling, talking about selling, leaking to the press that you are open to selling doesn't bring the money in. If they aren't offering him a new deal and willing to let him get to 12 months out then clearly they would like to sell, but do they not need to get on with it, either now or early in the summer?

I can understand bringing in Gallagher and not letting anyone go looks like we'll be carrying too many Midfielders, but we did the opposite in the last window and let Davinson out knowing we would be one short and would fix it later. Maybe the suits can return the favour to Ange on this for dealing with that CB situation

I think if we do buy Gallagher it will be closer to £30m than £50m, which for a relatively young, home grown England international centre midfielder would make sense imo.

Maybe it wouldn’t be most spectacular signing but I think most agree that he would improve our CM options, and £30ish mill is like the new £15m, when you consider players like Rice and Mount are going for £100m and £70m respectively.

They need to sell they just don't need to sell Gallagher. They're trying to flog broja for 50m and no doubt have other players like challobah they'd rather flog first. Gallagher is just the most saleable asset they have.

Gallagher is pure profit though as he is from their academy

Exactly. Gallagher is worth a good price, the others aren’t but they are hoping some team is as stupid as them and will pay big money for Broja.

As are Broja and Chalobah. That’s why the rumours are about selling them too. £100m profit probably needs all 3 of them sold.
Exactly, Gallagher would probably be last on the list Poch wants out, if this happens it's deadline day but doubt it will
