With news of Solomon having a setback, we're suddenly going to be short on options for a while at least, especially if we let Bryan go.
He might be looking at it in a similar way as Sanchez. If Ange doesn't think Gil is going to be of much use to him over the remaining games, then why not get him out of the door now (even on a loan) to make things potentially a bit clearer come summer.

Like you say, there will be options available from the youth ranks if we get really desperate. It maybe works out that there is more upside to loaning out Gil and keeping Moore/Donley/Santiago here than doing it the other way round.

Basically we are sitting at the below for 3 positions:

Sonny, Werner, Kulusevski, Johnson, Solomon, Santiago, Richarlison, Scarlett and Veliz as our options.

Sonny will be back soon enough and Veliz was back in training today so hopefully won’t be a million miles away. Solomon, god knows but I doubt it’s a season ender.

We have 17 games left and to be honest I think the above are capable of dealing with that. Also add that both Lo Celso and Maddison can play out wide if really need be, and Porro could in theory push forward.

Basically I don’t think we really need Gil for the remainder of this season. If we can get him a loan and he plays games then that’s beneficial for us as he either plays really well and we get back a better asset or he plays terribly and his wages have been covered.

Only 17 games left.

Werner, Richarlison, Son can all play left.
They can all play central too.
Deki and Johnson on the right.

Solomon hopefully returns soon but we can probably get by without him unless we have a disaster.

May be better to focus on getting these players to build some chemistry

I'd usually agree with insisting on an obligation but on this one I think we'll just be pleased he's off the books for the rest of the season.
With Werner in and players coming back he may well have played his last games for us.

Hope he gets his loan today. Fairly evident he will get next to no game time the remainder of this season unless we go through another injury crisis.

Solomon's persistent injuries might make us reconsider but I do tend to agree with you.

Needs to play much more regularly - for his own career and to benefit us in terms of commanding an acceptable transfer fee.

That’s it really. I agree with you that numbers wise it’s a little thin with Solomon but realistically it’s just stunting his development further and thus reducing his value.

He would rather sit on our bench rather than Brighton’s lol
I think it’s probably down to him finally feeling settled here, having a tight social group and wanting to prove himself after being loaned out two years running. I get where he’s coming from and also who knows what the offer from Brighton is, maybe it’s also to be a bench player/back up.

Yes I think he needs to move and a loan to the PL is by far the best option for all parties as long as he is a starter wherever he goes. But I can understand his reservations especially as Brighton have a lot of good players in and around his position.

Brighton would undoubtedly be the preference over Feyenoord and by extension playing in the Dutch league but that's on the proviso he actually does feature for Brighton regularly.

Maybe a precursor for working through a deal in the summer for Gimenez perhaps but who knows.
