Fair enough. Still think it’s too early to change things too much, and players are coming back from long injuries and absences. It’s going to be very inconsistent.

I think Brighton are too gung-ho, though. Getting caught on the counter in the final 10 seconds is poor game management. And that won’t change under RDZ.

Yes, I mean a lot of fans on here rave about Brighton and RDZ yet very few are calling out the fact they lost this one so late. It’s all about how poorly we played. If the shoe was on the other foot Ange would be called out for being naive etc.

Incidentally, we’re now 12 points ahead of Brighton.

As I said, stats aren’t everything but we had 16 shots to their 6. We weren’t at our best but daylight robbery is just a massive overreaction. As well as the goals we had Richy and Kulu one on ones, Maddison curling wide in a great position and a few other chances.

There’s a tendency on here to treat anything other than a scintillating, crushing performance as totally unacceptable and pure luck if we get anything out of it. We were the better side today overall and deserved to win. Stop complaining
I'm not complaining but you can't convince me we were the better side despite the stats, If we had drawn or lost which could easily have happened this forum would be the 8th circle of hell right now. Such is the fine line of victory.

Didn’t watch the game, but just saw the goals.

Unfortunate penalty for us to concede, but shit happens.

The pass from Kulu and run from Sarr were both brilliant, and the finish off the rebound was way harder than it looked, very cool from young Pape to slot that home.

Johnson’s goal exemplifies what he brings to the team, good movement, great pace, and cool finishing. Great to see Son back amongst the goal involvements too.

Can see bents with a spell on the bench after that performance and biss back. Prob not a bad thing though
I love them both but I don’t think Bentancur and Maddison together works. Bissouma, Sarr, Maddison is the way, and I fully appreciate how brilliant Bentancur was the couple of seasons before. It’s one or the other

It would like us to show a bit more control and security in what we do. Especially with the ball... it was messy and shaky today.

But we can't complain about our never-say-die attitude, team spirit, workrate and attacking approach... We always create plenty of chances to score. That's way more positive than previous seasons.

I trust us to become a real force and more complete when we get used to Ange's style and what he wants. All the pieces will fall into place during 2024...

Let's see where it takes us. COYS

Yeah but this forum’s mood, particularly the match thread, is hardly a reliable measure of our overall progress.

A draw wouldn’t have been the end of the world either. But as it is we’re just two points behind Arsenal, who consider themselves potential title winners. And we’re not in that position due to one fortunate win. We’re 24 matches into the season.

We can agree to disagree over whether we deserved to win. But you called it ‘daylight robbery’ which is just pure hyperbole

Managed to get a seat in the "safe standing" section for the first time. The scenes when Johnson scored was off the charts. A throwback to the good Ole days, well for me at least. Now off to the local with the missus for a few morettis. COYS

Ah shut up man, he was playing shite and not even trying, a tap in doesn’t change that

People calling that out aren’t pricks. Maybe you’re the prick
If people think Johnson was playing poorly fair enough but I don’t get this whole ‘he’s not trying thing’ point is people were laying into Johnson so those same people need to give credit where it’s due when he’s got in the position to score a last minute winner, tap-in or not.

Way too early too conclude that. Bents is still working his way back into form, it’s not a fit with Maddison issue just a he isn’t at his best issue

The shit this lad is getting is fucking bizzarre.

Young player who's numbers are pretty decent

Sure he could be doing better but people calling him a 'nothing fooballer'....i mean WTF.

Some just dont have patience and thats the problem.

I think he'll be a star for us given time.
