Vicario 7
Porro 6
Romero 8
VDV 7
Udogie 7
Bentancur 6
Sarr 9
Maddison 8
Kulusevski 7
Werner 5
Richarlison 6

Subs:
Son 9
Johnson 8
Bissouma 8
Hojbjerg 8
Davies 7

Thought it was a team-earned win so I went with teamwork for MOTM. Sonny was the difference maker though. Would be happy with him or Sarr as the MOTM. Our subs overall were really good.

To be honest, I thought Sarr was head and shoulders above everyone.

I felt sorry for Richy, I thought all the midfield and wingers were slow. The one time he had someone actually pushing to get into space, he got it right and Son set up Johnson. Don't get me wrong, I thought he should have done better with his one on one, but his play was impacted by a somewhat pedestrian midfield.

One thing that stood out to me was the insane amount of under hit passes today, and that nobody could see the pass was under hit and actually move to it.

Lucky win in the end. I don't think Brighton were excellent, but we definitely helped them look better than they were.

Sarr 9
Son 8
Richy 7
Everyone else 6.5

A lot of average performances out there, and worrying lack of composure on the ball.

Positives were Madison and Sarr looking close to their best, and Biss tidy when he came in. Timo looking a solid left attacker also.

The rest off their best by some distance.

Our whole ethos under Ange has been built on defenders in possession knowing the options for passes will open up.
At the moment that's just not happening.
Porro and Udogie aren't finding the same space/positions and the CM's aren't moving/showing enough for the ball.
It'll (hopefully) come good again when everyone's up to speed but it's leading to a lot of risks being taken at the back while they wait for options that aren't forthcoming...

Bentancur, Maddison and to a lesser extent Sarr are still off the pace. But they all grew into the game. (Bentancur had his best moments shortly before being subbed)

Motm for me a toss up between Mickey, Udogie, Sarr and Son.

Some ropey performances out there today.

I thought Bissouma was excellent when he came on, as was Son, but we somehow lost control of the game.

Bentancur was caught in possession a few times and Udogie again.

Hoijberg came on and was poor and Johnson was too but redeemed himself with a goal.

I actually felt Kulusevski was just getting hold of the game when he was subbed.

Sarr probably gets the MOM but there weren't many good performances today. Werner was decent.

The way Brighton play really makes it tough for us. I thought Dunk was excellent today and the way they played was very impressive.

Next game Son and Bissouma start. Maybe werner as well if he can play on the right.

Sarr is such an important player for us, took his goal so nicely, lots of players would have spanked that wide or blazed it across the six yard box in a panic.

We're going to have to accept the likes of Bentancur, Madders and Van der Ven to a lesser extent are going to need time a find that extra yard after injury. If we can keep picking up results like this until then we're be laughing.

A word for the role of Mariano Araneta Jr. in winning today's match for us.

Who he?

Well, he's a one-time Philippine international footballer, who notched twice for his country. He then coached the International team for a bit, before moving into the Philippine FA and heading that up for most of the past decade. Most importantly, though, he was the chair of the organising committee of the AFC Asian Cup. Now, I don't know for sure if it was his call not to have a third place play-off (for only the second time ever in the Asian Cup), but, as Chair, he must have had some influence.

As a result, rather than playing Iran in a dead rubber yesterday, Son was back with the squad today and able to come off the bench and lay on the winning goal for Brennan.

So, thanks, Mariano. You're a good man.

My MoTM is between Mickey
Both Porro and Udogie have been struggling lately. Porro goes under the radar, as his mistakes have been less catastrophic. But he has been turning the ball over a lot recently. Feel like he could use a game off. If for no other reason, to also keep Royal sharp.

We did look rusty in midfield, but this is to be expected when you start two players returning from long injuries. And another who has been off on international duty for a month. Of course it will look disjointed.

Fortunately we have two home games in a row, with a two week break in between. Great opportunity to work on players regaining fitness and for Ange to continue fine tuning his system.

I will go with Romero as my MoM today with Sarr in a close second.

Brighton are a really good team, and they put you under a lot of pressure. Was at the game today and it stood out how much pressure they put on everyone, the only one who was given any time was vicario.

The game swung back and forth we shouldnt have ended the first half 1 down but were also fortunate to not concede second half.

Great win all things considered ajd the team put in a shift as a whole, ironically brennan was probably the worst of the bunch but turned up with the winner.

Thought Romero was excellent today. Won every challenge, and very good at picking his times to be aggressive and stepping forward to intercept.

Sarr was the best by some distance. But Son was MoM for that assist alone. A real difference maker.
