Ndidi used to be a really really good midfielder.

I presume his level has massively dropped in the past couple of years without seeing him as I haven't heard a single rumour about him.
He's suffered with injuries (particularly knee) which has meant lengthy spells out but still generally regarded as a key player for Leicester.

I actually think he's got pretty good passing skills. He averages 8.01 progressive passes per 90 which is top 93rd percentile and 6.25 passes in to the final third per 90 which is top 87th percentile. I think he's got it in him to become a much more expansive passer in the right team with the right coach. He used to play some lovely long switches etc when I watched him more. If he is deployed as a single pivot 6 he could build on this.

My main question marks are like you say how good is his agility at PL level and also as a result can he play the single pivot 6 role? He has fluctuated primarily between double pivot 6 and 8 roles but as we know the single pivot 6 role is a bit different.

Certainly someone who would be near the top of my list though from what I've seen in the past, though I haven't seen him recently. Will try and watch a couple of Monaco games if I get a chance (much harder these days with a 3 year old running around!).
I mean long range passing. If you watch Monaco he is much more focused on short passes and interchanges. The fact he often plays a B2B obviously affects this but even so I’ve watched a lot of him and he rarely sits deep and sprays incisive passes up the pitch and when he does he has a bellow 50% success rate. It’s just not his forte. I’m saying it would be nice to have a dm who has more creative range to their passing ability as well as ability on the ball aa it makes a team harder to defend against.

As for agility it is a worry for me. I think he can play as a lone DM as when not acting as a B2B he will take up the deepest central midfield role. He covers a lot of ground which is backed up by his heat map which shows him popping up everywhere. Again tho that will be skewed somewhat by the double pivot and his alternating role as a DM/B2B. But I have watched games where he didn’t have the acceleration to catch up with an oppositions attack.

Reasonable concerns. I get what you mean about longer passing, it would be nice to have that kind of passer from deep.

The agility thing is something we need to trust the scouts on but yeah it's a fair concern, although if his positioning is good enough he can mitigate it.

I still think we should be looking at Gourna-Douath too.

I can see Jonathan David and KWP being targeted by us this summer as contracts expire in 2025 and kwp is HG.

I think we will look to take advantage of expiring contracts for the likes of fofana (2025) at Monaco and Lloyd Kelly at Bournemouth (free).

Agreed, you would think that they and Ange would have taken that into consideration especially considering how high our back line is. If they think he can play that role then who are we to argue.

Archie Gray will remain my top pick for the DM position because it makes the most sense to me even if he’s privy but if that isn’t an option then I agree with you re Gourna-Douath. Like I said until you mentioned him I had completely forgotten about him but you were spot on to bring him up. Probably the perfect younger pick who could immediately contribute. The only problem is he’s probably cost at least €40 mil if not more.

I worry a little about his agility and his passing isn’t very adventurous. Would have been nice to have a DM with with more vision/range in that department but can’t fault his physicality and ability on the ball.
If we are going down that road I'd prefer Palhinha

I know he has his haters but do think Rabiot is a talented player. Could be someone to replace GLC with although personally hope he stays.
I actually think he has pulled his socks up at Juve quite a lot but he's 29 and currently on £148k p/w. Zero chance we would even consider that IMO.

Also, no idea if it's just a purple patch but maybe we should be looking at Rodrigo Muniz of Fulham.

22 years old, 6ft1, mobile, good in the air and at link up.

He has 2 years left on his contract although Fulham may have an option for an extra year.

Very interestingly though his agent is CAA Base...

Probably a long shot, saying that Werner at 28 for 15m, and on 170k makes Rabiot with no fee seem like a deal that wouldn’t be completely off the table. Who knows,

@Ghost Hardware do you think Zubimendi could handle the intensity of the PL and do the defensive work needed in our system?

I know he's likely going to Arsenal but interested to know your thoughts.
Been thinking on this. I'm not totally convinced tbh. Problem is he's not the most physically imposing player. I think he would benefit our build up play more then our defensive resilience. I like him as a player and in certain aspects I think he could add a lot but the more I think about it the more i'm not sure he would give us the stability we realistically need. He's tenacious and reads the game well, hence his high interception stats, but he isn't ever going to be physically dominant.

I may be wrong but I have a feeling it's a purple patch

I don't think we should be buying players from Fulham anymore. I know it's a generalization but I look at Sess and Solomon and I can't get excited at signing anymore Fulham players.
I’d definitely still take Tosin Adarabioyo, but beyond that yeah

Really weird take. Just because Sessegnon has had a nightmare with injuries doesn’t mean all Fulham players will.
