Their systems don't involve leaving 2 CB's to defend for their life.

Also, Klopp changed his system when he left Dortmund and Pep has also changed his system a few times whilst at City.
They've never changed mid season. I'm sure we'll see changed next season when Ange gets more players that he wants

Unacceptable that we have won 3 headers off 16 corners. At least 7 of those have been uncontested. Coaching set pieces clearly non existent.

Ange has not got a clue about tactics. He literally plays the best possible way for the opposition in most games. A high line against Chelsea who literally lined up waiting for the through ball or ball over the top. Then against Gordon, Isak and Barnes who all play best against a high line we do the same thing and set up on the half way line. Forget stubborn. Ange cannot be that bright to think this will work out well.

all fallen apart since teams have had a look at us.

we're now slow, rigid, and completwly incapable of defending, this is nowhere near enjoyable to watch, and not any better or worse than what Conte served up.

There's no doubt at all that the first 10 games created an expectation that realistically we were never likely to deliver on over a full season.

But we have two glaring structural issues that show absolutely no signs of being fixed. Defending against counter attacks and defending set pieces. It's those two same issues week after week after week.

At home we usually create enough chances to win anyway, but that deserts us far too often away from home and that's why games like today and Fulham away happen.

The difference between Ange and the likes of Klopp, Guardiola, Artwata etc is that they're *capable* of being dynamic with their system and switching to a more pragmatic style if it's needed. We just do the same shit over and over again, "plan B is to do plan A better" is all good and well when games are being won but when they're not, the team just gets made to look totally impotent. And we're conceding absolutely comical goals because our coach and his team very obviously can't (or don't think they need to) coach a defence. "Have a fast centre back and hope for the best" isn't a sustainable tactic.

The alarm bells are getting louder.

Top team should never lose like this, manager should have to explain himself to his boss after this game.

Ange is looking naive at the moment but it’s his first season so if he adapts for next season all well and good

Ange tactics are really demanding on players. It's been said multiple times. It worked like a charm at the start of the season because everyone was at 100%. As the season advanced players got more fatigued, and we play worse every week.
This won't change until Ange changes his tactics to something more balanced. Zone marking on set pieces, high line. This is suicide if players are tired

We knew there would be transition, and his system early doors would open us up. I'm still all on board for what's the come, but Ange has to give some explanation as to why our free flowing play early in the season has disappeared and instead we're ponderous, slow and make stupid decisions which invite counter attacks.

This style of play relies on speed of decision making and a relentless pressure in the attacking third to keep the ball away from the defence. We're currently offering nothing in attack and it's exposing us so much.

But that's a debate for another thread.....

Ha ha you can see that everyone is tiptoeing around the "he's got to go" line, waiting for someone else to say it.

I wonder why Ange doesn't look at the game after 5 minutes and think these w@nkers are going to sit back so only one of Porro or Udogie goes forward at a time?

Teams sitting deep will be the reason Ange wins nothing with us. We play to those teams strengths.

Also, wtf are Maddison and Romero slowing the game down so much? Why do they need to walk with the fcuking ball? How is that not driving Ange nuts?

The test for Ange will be what he is willing to do to improve. The PL is a different beast, the elite managers, players and more scrutiny than anywhere else.

He is clearly a very good manager but to be elite and compete against the top managers in the PL he needs to show he can adjust and adapt where needed. You could pick an 11 of any players in the league and you'd struggle in certain games playing the way we do.

I think we've been poor all of 2024 (a few good performances aside) on the whole. Every game we give away 2 or 3 big chances. We were creating so much early in the season yet are barely getting a sniff right now. I've said it for a while to friends that whilst I'm happy with Ange I do feel the media and general feeling is still a little caught up on early season form. We aren't a great watch and have ao many players out of form.

Today will give Ange the chance to reflect and adapt. He cannot keep leaving us be so open and keep playing players woefully out of form where we have other options available. I like the man a lot but his 'this is us mate' attitude will only work for so long. He needs to have thick enough skin to adapt and change where needed.

But you can adapt mid season. The same key issues have been there for all to see for a long time. Our set piece coaches need sacking as a start.
