This is my overriding feeling. In general play we were much the better team. Arsenal are dominant in the majority of matches they play, and we limited them to very few chances, and possession.
I'd would have been much more concerned if they had opened us up regularly during the match, and we...
If we can get Gimenez for a decent fee, say under £40m, while still keeping Richarlison, I think it would be a clever move.
As others have said, he's still developing, and fits the system so would make sense.
Going by that logic it’s better to just keep Davies as a LCB. Rather than sign a defender who won’t be much better than Davies defensively but much more limited on the ball from LCB.
Nah. What is embarrassing is the naive assertion that what is said in a post-match press conference is the same as what is being said in the dressing room and on the training pitch.
Do you really think a manager who has openly stated he wants us to be title challenger will just ignore an issue...
You’re misrepresenting what I said. My point has nothing to do with what foot they use and more about how comfortable the player is in the role.
Having a player who is confortable passing out from LCB is fundamental to how we play out from the back. If we shoe horn a player in there it will be...
Totally agree with this. We actually played better than I was expecting. We were always in the match but conceded sloppy goals. Tightening up our defensive corners and improving our defending in transitions are achievable with better personnel and coaching. Just have to trust the process.
Ange...
He was very weak from Havertz header, there is no getting away from it. He simply needs dominate his box in those situations. Clear area he needs to improve on
Yeah this narrative that we missed out on all these youth prospects that are now triple the price is very reductive. Back then we were an established champs league team looking to push on. Many of these players would have wanting to get regular first team top flight football at that stage of...
He plays right centreback though?
We saw how that restricted us when Dragusin played there. Surely we need to target a player who is comfortable at LCB or just keep Ben Davies as an option instead.
What? Arsenal lucked out on FA cup win in Arteta's first season.
And Klopp didn't win anything for the first 3(?) seasons of his tenure. Up until the last few season he was basically playing youth teams in domestic cup comps and prioritising CL and league.
The club is clearly putting the...
That's what we are trying to do from what I can see? We needed to increase our revenue streams to a similar level as theirs first though, and that is where the stadium has come in. Since then we have clearly been putting in a structure (new recruitment team, revamp of the youth setup etc, Scott...
There are other players out there who won’t command the same fee who but have the skill set. Meaning we’ll have funds to use on other parts of the squad as well.
Yeah, and ideally we need Richy in the front 3 as well. They are our only players in those attacking positions that have some physicality and can hold up the ball. We can't afford for this to be a basketball match like the game against Newcastle. If we go with Werner/Son/Johnson and they keep...
De Jong said he nearly joined us but instead chose Barce: https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11675/11683247/frenkie-de-jong-admits-he-nearly-joined-tottenham-before-barcelona-move - the fact we already agreed a deal with him points to the club having funds available at the time.
Do you think we didn't buy a single player because we had no money or was it because Poch only wanted Frenkie De Jong and wouldn't accept alternatives?
Also if you don't believe the additional revenues (we've already seen increased transfer spend since the stadium has been open btw) will be...
