Never in doubt, he's only going to get better.
Looks like he may have found his partner is Mason.

He needs to consistently look to pass forward and get attacks going as quick as possible. He played a lovely long forward pass during the NLD. More of that please.

I think how we played at the Goons benefited him(as horrible as it was to watch). if he has a weakness it is tracking runners and defending when it's going towards his own goal, him being almost on the CB's toes limited the chance of people getting behind him.

Mixed bag for me so far... patrols in front of the back four well, with lots of possession from the back. But there's not quite enough of that bite and positional nous that you got from a Parker or a Sandro in their pomp.

Still, he's far from the only one growing into this season, doing ok so far.

I didn't even find it horrible to watch, it was a breath of fresh air to me to see us defend well as a team and show heart and desire. I actually really enjoyed the performance.

I love watching counter-attacking football, it's the most exciting way to play.

It's also fun watching the Goons try and fail to break down a stubborn defence as we so often do ourselves.

I like counter attacking football if it has a bit of zip about it, we didn't really have a lot of it. Showing fight and defensive discipline is great but you'd want to see a bit more next week.

Yeah I agree, but it was the first time we'd tried it since Harry left, plus we had the incomparably bad Adebayor up front which seriously damaged all our forward play.

I don't think we'll do it every week, or even very often. But it's nice to know we have it as a weapon when playing, particularly away from home, against the top teams.

BC can just curl up in the corner and cry himself to sleep in those games - I'll sit back and enjoy hitting teams on the break and not getting smashed 5-0 anymore thanks!

It was nice to know that MoPo is open to the idea of changing tactics when it is needed.

I am still concerned about him trying to play a 1 size fits all brand of football. It was a criticism from the Saints fans that he had no plan B.

But if it was a deliberate tactic to defend deeper then that is a positive in my book.

I would prefer hudd to still be in the squad. Capoue is a better defensive player but hudd has a greater range of passing

No he doesn't. He doesn't have the vision, ability or as that article proves (where is Hudd in those passing stat comparisons by the way ?) the success rate that Capoue does.

Not only is Capoue making more long passes than Huddlestone, he's still managing to complete 10% more than him too. He's even making more key passes. And averaging more tackles/interceptions per game. DEspite the fact that on balance we have more ball in games than Hull. So in other words he's more effective even though spending less time defending.

Capoue isn't perfect, but he's an upgrade on Huddlestone in every single way bar none.

I knew you would throw a load of stats at me. Stats don't tell the whole story, capoue plays a lot of safe balls where hudd try's more difficult ones.
I don't watch much of hull TBH but a 2010 hudd was better than capoue is now IMO

Yep.

In fact the Arsenal game has probably given me more confidence about Poch as a manager than anything I've read or heard so far. So few managers have a real plan B, or can get their team to play it. Jose does, which is why he's the best. I really hope Poch can do it too.

Whilst Capoue is a DM, he offers a very different game to Sandro and Hudd. Some have criticised him for looking sluggish or a bit slow. I don't think he's either. He has a very wide stride which means he actually covers substantial ground quickly. This is most noticeable watching the games live. Perhaps the long stride is why sometimes he commits fouls others don't.

However, I really like his upright stature, his awareness, intelligence and ability to use the ball effectively for the team. He's a 90 minute player who fits the Poch system.

A player I really enjoy watching.

Disagree. Capoues passing range is just as good, he is more mobile and doesn't shit himself in tight spaces and lose the ball like Hudd used to.
