I have to say despite a fantastic transfer window for our part I still feel abit gutted Arse managed to sign Özil. My question is why we didn't try to sign him or did we? Does any of our invaluable ITK'ers have any info on this?

He is reported to be earning 200k gross per week at the scum. We passed on Coentrao because he wanted 120k per week.
Would have blown our pay structure through the roof.
But like you, I'd be interested if any itk'er has any info.

Bacause he cost £42.5 million which is about £12 million over the top. So Arsenal signed Ozil, so what. Get over it.

Don't know whether we tried but I would imagine, unfortunately, that he wouldn't come to us at this time. Arsenal are a CL club and have been so for nearly 20 years. Hopefully next summer we can go for someone of this dimension. Good player but we have done as well as we could this summer. Well done Lewis/Levy/Baldini/AVB.

Top class player, but if he was looking those sorts of wages then it was never going to be a goer. A great signing for them but to me it doesn't seem to solve their problem. Creating chances wasn't an issue for Arsenal

How long before the other good players think he's on 200k I should be on at least 170k a la chelsea. Slippery Road.
Anyway great player, he'll do well for them but there squad is still thread bare and I wouldn't swap our 7 signings for him.
I haven't seen much of ozil, or our signings, so on reputation alone he's easily the best, but our signings are good and potentially great. Our squad depth is also far stronger.
Give it ten games and then we'll see where we at. The squad would of gelled somewhat and the new boys should be upto speed with the prem.

They're bound to sign someone top class at some point, we can't just get scared off because they finally spend some wonga.

He may be an unbelievable talent but if they'd have signed Paulinho and Soldado for the same money I'd have shit myself. They'd have addressed 2 problems instead of strengthening an area they're already strong in.

Arsenal fans will have woken up this morning after the euphoria of spending 42.5m on one player and thought "fuck...we still have a pretty weak squad defensively."

i'm torn between wanting to see one of the world's great players actually play vs the inevitable vomiting at watching him run out for a scumbag bunch of woolwich gimps...

Pretty sure you don't need an ITK to explain to you why Ozil would prefer to join Arsenal over Spurs.

Ozil is a wonderful footballer, superb at drifting around and finding space. He'll have a field day with some of the lumps in the EPL.

It does annoy me that Ozil and Mata, 2 of my favourite players in world football play for Arsenal and Chelsea - hopefully Eriksen can be our little magician.

Özil was made in Schalke. Probably the best footballer to ever come out of Gelsenkirchen and now look where is. Positives are at least they didn't get Draxler! :(

This isn't suggesting Draxler is better than Özil.
