‘Incredible’… Micah Richards claims Porro and Udogie have been transformed by Ange Postecoglou

Pundit Micah Richards has now been blown away by the evolution of two Tottenham Hotspur players under Ange Postecoglou this season.

A full-back in his playing days, Richards couldn’t quite believe the tactical brief Postecoglou was handing both Destiny Udogie and Pedro Porro at Tottenham.

Best pair of FBs in the EPL for my money. Some of the areas of the pitch they get into are incredible. It's all part of the machine though with midfielders taking over the defensive responsibility when they go roaming.

Interesting that the US studio commentators (Robbie Earle and Phil Neville) and the Sky studio commentators (from the postmatch video posted in the matchday thread) both graphically highlighted the positioning and movement of Porro and Udogie and its impact on defensive coverage. I especially liked it when Neville said "this is the type of football we've come to expect from Tottenham".

Except that the midfielders don’t always do they ? - see Spam game ! The number of times we ended up with 3 players stood next to each other between pen box and corner flag, and then one slip and it was suddenly 2 on 2 with people scrambling to get back up the field. Happy medium hopefully incoming !
