I just can't see us getting in a new striker in January, even though we really need one. I know this because we never do it, despite what story any news rag, web pleb or dodgy football agent invents. Can anyone name even two quality signings that were made in the January transfer window in the last ten years?!
Ryan Nelson, Louis Saha.
Two quality signings...
1 in 3 goal rate last season, 1 in 2 hit rate so far this season. That's not bad. Don't forget, we aren't looking for someone to jump into the first team and score 20+ goals for us. We need someone who is happy to be a squad player, to come in when Kane gets injured/tired/hits poor form and to provide a different option off the bench. He's been linked with us for while and I've seen the 14 million figure quoted before. His stats are unspectacular .

I really can't see us being interested in him.
14 goals last season, 7 this season hardly enough to justify spending 14 million on a 27 year old. If Kane is out of a while, we will need someone who we are confident can cover for him. Levy said that he could get Charlie Austin for less than 15 million but Poch turned that option down, I think he looking for a quality player who can cover more than one position.1 in 3 goal rate last season, 1 in 2 hit rate so far this season. And at 6ft3in, he'd provide quite an aerial threat in the last 10 minutes when things get desperate.

We'll buy one if we can find the right one - of that I'm sure. I'm also sure that MoPo has Levy where he wants him - because for the first time in years the coach and Levy seem to be on the same page with regards to developing the club. MoPo has already done things that many of us did not see coming - Dier as the defensive midfielder, Dele Alli's progress - so we have to throw a little faith their way - as they (together) said at a recent Q&A when the striker concern was voiced - if it's right for the team they would buy the right player - but to buy a player for the sake of it who may unbalance our current spirit and team ethic would be detrimental to our progress. They quoted; Son, Chadli, Clinton as all potential Kane replacements should he get injured. Of course, it is easy to argue they are not a Harry Kane - but if we buy another Harry Kane to back him up - that kind of quality will not be happy on the bench. It's a fine balance....I just can't see us getting in a new striker in January, even though we really need one. Good point - but I think we're both at the too far extremes of that spectrum - my wording was too emphatic - But I do think they are working well together and that can be seen when they are interviewed together (not seen that before with a Tim.S or a Harry or a AVB) - They are comfortable in each others presence and ideas - and that is a major step forward. I believe Levy can see and feel the progress - I don't think he's the tyrant that people make him out to be - a brilliant businessman - no doubt - but I also think he is a genuine Spurs fan at heart - and I have met and spoken with him. If you've not yet, check out the Public Q&A on the THFC homepage.MoPo definitely does not have Levy where he wants him, no one does. In fact the worst thing MoPo can do is to ever try to publicly pressure him like Harry or Derwood. It just doesn't work. Levy has demonstrated quite a few times that where his principles are concerned, he's willing to cut his own nose off to spite his face.
There's always a first time. Let's not be too negative.I just can't see us getting in a new striker in January, even though we really need one. ... but if we buy another Harry Kane...
