Did any one see the Everton v City game yesterday? I only watched a few minutes of it, but saw Fernandinho throw out an arm and hit Richarlison on the chin with his elbow. Play went on for a few seconds until Michael Oliver stopped play as it was a 'head injury'. The trainer came on, and this is where i got really annoyed. There was no booking and the game was restarted with a dropped ball. The commentators said it was an accident, yet it was almost identical to Lamela's second yellow the other day. If anything, this was worse as it was an elbow, not a forearm, yet the same referee decided this wasn't a yellow. There's also the inconsistency with the commentating as Lamela was 'stupid' to do that, yet Fernandinho's was 'an accident'.

The Thursday before the NLD, Sissoko got clobbered in the chin/throat by a forcefully swung forearm. He went down straight away, but play went on. Once the ball went out of play, the ref appeared to indicate to Sissoko that he saw the incident and didn't think it was a foul. It should have been a yellow (or red if there was any reason to think the contact had been intentionally aimed at his face - not in this case).

Lamela was clearly trying to fend off / push, but not strike, the opponent. He contacted him slightly high, which makes it a (minor) foul, but not worthy of a card. There are multiple similar incidents in every game and normally we would only see a yellow card given if it's for repeated fouling - which is not what Lamela was booked for. When a card is given specifically for a single incident of a flailing arm, it's because the infringed player was struck and not merely pushed / held off.

Mourinho will be treated differently because he is not exactly new to the game, his past actions, claims / declarations , pay offs... The whole Mourinho persona ie calling out players in the media, touch line bans, negative football, longevity in jobs, we have all seen the Mourinho circus before.
