Am I alone in having a secret second team?

I grew up in Barrow and started going to watch Barrow play with my Dad when I was about 7. Barrow were really poor so everyone had a First Division team they followed. I went to Blackpool on a day trip and saw Spurs play in August 1961 and Spurs became my second team.

I moved to London and Spurs became my main team - I’ve had a season ticket for getting on for 30 years.

But I’m still a member of the Barrow supporters’ trust, buy raffle tickets weekly and travel around the south of England to see them play (when there is no clash with Spurs).

My dream is for Barrow to play Spurs in the cup, score first then lose 2-1.

Anybody else have a second team?

Nope, only spurs for me.

I believe my great grandad was at one point involved with Orient so I've always had a soft spot for them but in truth I don't give a shit about anyone but Tottenham.

Nottingham Forest.

My Dad has supported them all his life and we've been to a few games. Always supports Spurs first and foremost when they play each other of course but was awesome when they finally got promoted back to the Prem. He always keeps an eye out for Spurs too.

Wouldn't say I have a second team, but I always look for Barrow's results because I've got family up there, and I look for Orient's results because they were my local team.

I was born in Luton, left when I was 6 months old to come to the jewel of Haringey, but I've always had a soft spot for Luton.

Lots of people have second clubs. The main rule is that they cant be in the same Tier (same league is ok).
When I grew up as a kid, I had a favourite English and and favourite Italian team.

Farnborough. Their ground is pretty much at the end of my road so i attend as many home (and a few away) games as i can when Spurs/Cricket/Family don't get in the way.

Bonnyrigg Rose - Scottish League 2 team. My old flatmate played for them a couple years back so went along occasionally when he was there. Proper community club where a few of my mates and I have all stayed supporting even after my mate left.

Blyth Spartans. We moved to Blyth in the early 70s and the ground was a 10 minute walk from home. Some great FA Cup games, Preston (managed by one R Charlton), Stoke (with one G Crooks), Wrexham (could have played South Woolwich in next round).

Couple of the players lived on our estate aswell.

East Fife. My dear departed Dad’s “Scottish team”. Just after he died I drove up from Kent to watch them play Stenhousemuir… we’d sponsored the match in his name. Got there and the game was called off due to a waterlogged pitch. The club treated me royally and provided me with a memory I’ll never forget.

There is still a soul left in football, but it belongs to the people who run such clubs and nowhere else.

Same as me. I'm in farnborough too. Don't go though, spurs drain enough of my time and money

Pompey. Moved out of London about 18 years ago and Fratton park is at the end of our road. Both our boys were born in Portsmouth and I've taken my eldest to a few league one games. Both have been dragged to watch Spurs but it's an expensive day out so I'm not pushing football on them (especially not with the continuous disappointment of being a spurs fan!)

Wouldn't say they're a second team but I have a soft spot like most will for Orient.
