What's crosssed my mind is that in direct contrast to the dire situation Hull City finds itself in, what with a piss poor performance ending them up in the bottom three after two played, Spurs are top of the tree and the squad is firing on all six cylinders.

The upshot therefore, is that our potential targets can determine our potential, making it easier for them to consider us as a viable career move, unlike Hull City.

Twelve days left then, and still the marketplace is unusually quiet. Just one confirmed mover could see a whole suite of players follow.

Are we taking this particualr window true to form and waiting until the very last manoueverings are taking place before swooping?

Does our squad in fact, now confidence breeds cohesion, actually require additional numbers or indeed improvements in certain areas upon existing players?

I would be satisified if we didn't bring anyone else in. That's not saying that there are not areas of the squad that can be improved but the mass buying of better players has not worked in the past and I'm convinced that the good performances against Pool and Hull are due to the squad not having to get used to each other.

If we beat West Ham I wouldn't be surprised if Robben seriously gives us some consderation if Real really want him out.

I think as Harry has said before, if the right targets become available then he will look at what we could do. With our 2 perofrmances thus far it looks as though we have the balance and a good enough squad to make a go of it this season.

Yes there probably are players where we could upgrade but what we have to do is also look at the risk factor also.

If JJ or JOH did leave then we would have to replace imo. With who I would not like to guess but I would like to see some prem experience.

I do think though with who's possibly available and at the money being asked harry wont dip into the market again unless we do have departures.

If things did go drastically wrong then we would have January to have a look about.

The market is to pricey for most hence why it is so quiet. The deals will be done as always in the last 5 - 3 days as clubs lower the askign prices of players they want to sell or players they have to sell. I can see us getting 2 further signings espeically if we lose a player of our own.

I think we'll try and get 1 or 2 more players in. But i think a majority of the squad will remain the same. We might sell Chimbonda and possibly Boeteng. But i think the likes of Jenas and Bentley will certainly be kept on. I reckon we'll sign Scott Brown next week and possibly a backup left back.

Palacios replacemnt for when he is injured or suspended is the only must for me.

If a deal could be done for Robben or Young at the last minute then fine but I will not worry if these don't come off.

Surely one or two could be leaving us though. Chimbo / O'Hara / Jenas / Bentley have all been linked with moves away as has Hutton. It'd be a surprise to me if at least one of the mentioned players doesn't go.

Where i'm coming from is that, with the start we've had, it may turn potential targets' heads as a more viable and attractive option, whereas a little as just over a week ago, WHL may have been lass desirable.

It's true.

At the same time, we need them less and don't want to disrupt the squad. So I dunno.

I agree with the Palacios backup but am wondering if we can find one at a reasonable costs. As we have seen with Diarra the fee for such as player is pretty high for a quality DM player. I am just wondering if we could develop KPB, Knaugton or Jake Livemore into this role? This assumes that Palacios is available for most of the season and we have the time and opportunity to develop such as player.

Personally all that worries me is who the club might sell rather than whom we might buy before the transfer window shuts ??

Levy should switch his mobile off & go on holiday for a few weeks - the moment Ferguson comes out talking about Modric & Palacios you know whats gonna happen.

I say buy back up for Palacios with an option of him actually starting next to him. So he would have to be bloody good!

Also, we are 1st. Good leverage to finally convince the Robbens and Van Der Varts etc etc that we mean business.

We've gone years without a Palacios in the midfield and now we're all wanting another one. I just cant see us getting another player quiete like him tbh. We've done alright without that type of player before, and i'm sure we'll do fine with what we have. If we can get someone in that mould then great, but i have my doubts. I've always found that players struggled alongside Zokora. Huddlestone and Zokora was a nightmare pairing. Jenas and Zokora didn't work. But Jenas and Huddlestone looked decent while Palacios was out at the end of last season. And without Zokora at the club we have more effective central midfield partnerships now.

I think it speaks volumes about what we are potentially playing for PT.

We have beaten Liverpool, who are regarded as one of the best teams in European football already and we hammered Hull. Sitting top fo the league, is a much more attractive thing, than having 2 losses.

A better player may look at us now, even though we are not offering European football and think we might actually be challenging for honours, rather than just trying to qualify for the Europa League... much more attractive looking and another 3 points at West Ham would give us an even better chance of getting the better player, should they come available.

This time last year arshavin was in the balance but but by deadline day it was already apparant we were not going to get near thetop 4. How this contributed to not getting Andrei i don't know, maybe the extra 1m Levy was haggling overmight have been easier for him to part with if we'd been near the top. Know one will know for sure onthat specific case but it doesn'ttake too much imagination to agree that being near the top of the table makes it easier to attract players and easier for chairmen to take leaps of financial faith.

If we are in amongst it and still getting good reviews for our football come the last few hours of the window and someoen like Robben is still available then of course we have a chance.
