what we achieved from the last ten corresponding fixtures we face this season. 12 at home and five away.

if we achieve that again will it be enough? or more importantly will we achieve it again this season.

being pessimistic i can see 12 points, ten at home and four with defeats at liverpool chelsea and stoke and a home defeat against city and a draw with everton and southampton . meaning arsenal would need seven wins out of ten to take fourth place.

are we stronger mentally this season to take 20 points or more this season/
If we fail are we the perenial chokers or is avb the missing piece?

im cautious this season after being one who always is positive.

interestingly thisis the first season in about the last eight that i have not been to as game so the superstious side thinks i should stay away although im going to wigan, WHL is a no no tyhis year.

we haven't lost a game in 3 months and you think we will go 4-4-2? Analyzing each game I can understand it but we're on the rise. Liverpool game will be the big teller for me how we respond after such a big win and with a mid week clash. A win would be sensational for the rest of the year in terms of momentum.

I'm going to turn one of your losses and a draw to a win and say we go 6-3-1. 19 Points.
Arsenal would need to go 8-1-2 for 26 points.

Win 5 games, draw a couple. Say we do lose our real toughies left - pool/chelsea/citeh. Getting 5 wins and a couple of draws in the other 7 games is hardly being arrogant. We should be aiming to do that at the least. If we want 3rd, winning against Pool and especially chelsea are pretty important too, imo.

I'd hope we can get around 18 pts myself. The equivalent of winning 6, losing 4. Hardly asking us to set the world alight is it? If we do that, then it'll give us a very good chance of a top 4 spot, imo.

Play each game as it comes.
We need to have the mentality of chasing the teams above us rather than holding onto our spot.

I'd say we're good for at least 20 points. We are ahead of Shitty and Chelscum in terms of recent performance, so I think draws with them are very likely if we cannot win. Therefore I'm eyeing something like 22 to 23 points with 3rd place a distinct possibility.

Based on our recent form, I really think we can win at Liverpool, against Fulham and at Swansea. The Europa League result will also be important for the confidence, we have to keep being undefeated.

After that, the game against Everton will be very important. Everton is our last defeat in Premier League, and they will not be easy to beat (only 5 defeats this season, the 3rd fewest behind City and United). If we manage to win or even draw this one, I think the 4th place will be safe. The following games (Chelsea and City) will be bonuses to, maybe, get the 3rd or the 2nd place.

I may be over confident, but I really think we will be at least 4th if we manage to get to the Chelsea game win 4 wins, and with our recent form, I can see us doing that.

Basically us and Chelsea have Liverpool, Everton, a Manchester and each other. Arsenal have Everton and a Manchester.

On the basis of not having Liverpool who son look decent now and us and Chelsea playing each other Arsenal's position isn't all that bad. Assume Chelsea beat us and we both lose v Liverpool. There's be only two points deprecating the three. Gonna be very close still. The key will be if we do lose games like City or Chelsea to not let tht effect our other games.

Liverpool game is huge, they are flying aswell a win would be massive here and open a nice gap between 3rd and 4th nevermind 5th. I would be huglely confident of getting at least top 4 if we beat the scousers away its gonna be a very tall ask though but we can do it!

Although I clicked agree, this is only what the players should think. Us fans can speculate all we want.

I personally think (if we don't get injuries to key players)

Liverpool Away - Draw (Hope and think possibly win though)
Fulham Home - Win
Swansea Away - Draw/Win (Another tough but if they come at us we can hit them on the counter)
Everton Home - ?? (No idea for this one, we can win but we all know what happened at their place)
Chelsea Away - ?? (Another big game and if we are still in the fight for 2nd this could be massive)
Man City Home - ?? (The race for 2nd placed driving spot??!!)
Wigan Away - Win
Southampton Home - Win
Stoke Away - Win/Draw
Sunderland Home - Win

So going on the most pessimistic route we get 15 points and that's the lowest I think we will get. The goners would need 23/30 ..so still big ask for them.

If we beat Liverpool and I think we will, we could really go the rest of the season unbeaten. We are a totally different beast to any other season in the last 15-16 years.

I think 17 points would be enough. Can we honestly see Arsenal winning 8 or winning 7 and drawing three? I can't, one more loss for them and they will be nervous, I think Swansea can really do us a favour. Plus who the hell would want to go to St James Park final day of the season? That'll be a very tough trip for them. Plus United and Everton at home, which I now feel more confident in United putting out a strong team now they aren't in the CL...

Both Arsenal and Chelsea have the fixtures and the personnel to go on very good runs. It wouldn't surprise me if they both get 20 points from the final 10 games. I think that we will probably only need 15 points to get into the top 4, although it would be very close!

So the equivalent of 5 wins. Which could be "win all our home games" or "beat opponents in the bottom half". Any other points, and especially points versus City and Chelsea would make that a bit easier.

City have to play Everton, United and then us away from home, with home games against Newcastle and West Brom in between. It's almost unthinkable that they won't make top 4, but I do think there is a fair chance that we can overtake them, even if Chelsea end up overtaking both of us.

I'm not too concerned about the Anfield game being a "measure" of where we are actually. In fact, if they beat us they then have 4 very winnable games up next and could well overtake Arsenal (hilarious!). If we can beat Fulham and Swansea then we will have 60 points by the end of March which should be enough off a platform for us to get top 4, so I'm not going to cry if we lose against Liverpool.

Same, I know in my head that a loss isn't the end of the world and we are still in a great position. But I just fucking hate all the Liverpool fans I know and the arrogance they have >_<

Also, it would put us...10 points cle...no, let's not talk about it.

Yeah, totally. Just that 6 points against West Ham and Arsenal have put us in a position where this game takes on slightly less importance.

It would be very nice to do them at Anfield though. It might change their fans' opinions about being better than us man for man. Then again, maybe not.

However we won they would say they were better and that the ref was biased anyway

17 points from 10 games would be perhaps unacceptable since we are on 1.93 p.p.g. (iirc) at the moment. No reason not to keep our recent unbeaten run of form going (close to a third of the season). That would probably be more than 2 p.p.g., though I'd have to check.

We shouldn't be looking much further ahead than one game, but our goal, if we were to set one for the rest of the season, should be 2+ p.p.g. imho.
