I feel that your comment regarding the weather is more than justified. Many of the horses this week hadn't been tested on ground on the soft side of good. With rain forecast on the Saturday,
played a part in my selections.

Whilst the rain didn't really matrialse, the ground certainly played a massive part in the equation this week.

to be honest I tend to play less when the ground is heavy or soft on the flat anyway. I know some horses go on it and in theory you can dismiss a lot of them as not handling the ground - but even then your kind of guessing at how soft it is. I think when its soft it ruins the pace of races and I always think that nothing much can come of the pace and it always exagerates races and performances

As it is I always find Goodwood a difficult track to find an edge at anyway. used to think it suited front runners then they kept getting pipped, so who knows!! I don;t tend to play very often there plus I am sure I don't do very well there and even on Saturday talked myself out of nice winner - but that happens everywhere at some point doesn't it ?

I used to take gambling a lot more seriously when I worked with a couple of blokes who well into it as well - now I don't get so much time with work but I enjoy it probably more. Really look forward to these competitions as nowadays I mainly only have a patent on a Saturday and just occasionally in the week so it makes a nice change to pick out some sorry losers and have a daily interest
