Thats the first "different" comment ive heard about Danny Blanchflower. Many actually rate him as the greatest ever. Perhaps it was because of his philosophical nature and him being the captain of the double-winning side.I watched Spurs regularly in the 50s and 60s. His peak was probably in the mid 50s (he was already 28 when he joined us from Villa in 1954). By the time of the double season, he was already way past his best. He was our most successful captain but nowhere near our greatest player. He was a very cultured player but was very slow. IMO he was the weakest player in the double team and we were improved when John Smith replaced him at right-half.
