I know we have nothing left to play for but pride, places for next season etc  but if we score 5 more goals this season we will beat our best ever premiership goals tally, which we did in 94-95 when we scored 66 (currently on 62)

Amazingly that season we scored more away from home; scoring 32 at home and 34 away (Klinsman 20, Sheringham 18)

Im not sure if we have ever scored more than 44 goals at home in a season (currently highest home scorers in the league) but i don't think we have  6 more at home for the 50 would be a nice landmark.

also on the flip side if we concede 11 more we will have conceeded more goals than we ever have in the premiership, current record 66 in 92-93.

wow i really am trying hard to get excited about these last 5 games

Here's a prediction.
We will score more than 5 goals before the end of the season.
We will not let in 11 goals.

that's a bold statement. we won't let in 11 in 5 games

that's only just over 2 goals a game, and Anthony Gardner and Paul Stalteri have just been recalled due to an injury crisis

had a quick recce on TopSpurs - (haven't got my books handy as at work) - we scored 115 lge goals in 42 lge games 60/61 and 111 lge goals in 42 lge games in 62/63 - I think it's safe to assume at least 50 of them came at home - my guess in one of the seasons it would be more like 60- edit - in fact a quick flick thru the scores seems it nearer 80 than 60 in 60/61

incidentally our grand total in all comps in 62/63 - was 140 - surely our all-time record

WOW! 140 goals in a league season  Eek

could you imagine that nowadays, you'd be bored with 3-0's

"2-0 i demand my money back!"

was that when your Greavsies were banging in 40+ in a league season, thems was the days.

most i've ever seen scored in a season was Sheringham one year when he was the prem top scorer (early 90's) and i also remember the year of many Clive Allen goals (don't know why i'm writing in Yoda-leese now ) bored i am

Settle for that last day.

with Pompey claiming 4th (or fifth above Everton)

gets me £400 smackers (pompey to finish top without Big four)
