Are everyone forgetting that Everton have a cup final coming up? They're not going to give a sh*t about Fulham so whatever result we get doesn't matter.

Pity as I would love to get into Europe again. Yes it is a distraction but that is why we have a large squad in order to cope.

I think Everton would love 5th spot, and the players are looking to prove their worth to get a place in F.A cup final, smilar situation to West Ham when they beat us in final day 2006, the only difference is it's away for Everton, which is the most concern for us. I don't count West Ham was real rival match before that match.

only problem is who to beat Liverpool at Anfield, while it was their last home game in the season, i trust us to do well in 1st half, but our 2nd halves peformances recently made me less optimstic about our chances even if we were up 2-0 at half time !

Taking £7m profit from Liverpool and beating them 3 times this season would be so sweet. Particularly if the gap between themselves and Man U ends up being 4 or 5 points. Such a sweet trump card to have in the back pocket when Liverpool fans are being smug.

lol @ Liverpool have nothing to play for. Did you watch the West Brom game? they're passionate and having a winning mentality. There is no ay they will just go out there, final game of the season at Anfield and just not play.

Liverpool will want to win, at home in front of their fans for an end of season party.

We beat them very luckily at our place and are only the second team to beat them in the league this year, so they will certainly want to beat us.

I'm happy with 8th, I think that Europe next year could be a poison chalice, and will ive us a chance to concentrate on league, to see where we can get. If we can stay in the mix up until after xmas, I'll be happy.

decent cup runs, but qualify for Europe next year, is what I'll be happy for. Cl qualification, over the moon of course, but Europa League the following season, building on the team, and the way we play (and with the current manager still in charge!!)

It would be amazing to finish this season on such a high after the disappointing start. A treble over the Scousers would add a bit of shine to our season. One final push from the lads for as much glory as we can get from this season and a chance of European football next season.

if we get 8th place and ship out Rocha, Gilberto, Boateng, Zoko, Bentley and Pav, whilst bringing in a target man (Drogba type without the psychological flaws) and left winger (Cole or Downing would be nice) then I will be happy.

No, the reason Europe has gone down to 7th place already is because Everton are in the final, them winning it makes no difference

if everton lose the final they take a europa spot as they are 6th

then the 7th take the spare spot that utd generated by winning the lge cup

if everton win the final then then the 7th spot qualifies due to the two spare places generated by everton and utd winning cups

For me its not a case of being bothered or not but the achievement. After the start we had, to go from the threat of going down to playing in europe would just be amazing, however I'm really happy with our current position and the team showed they got what it takes to be a top PL team, its just a case of can we keep it up next season?

I loved the European nights at the lane over the last 3 seasons but the new format is a a farce, redesigned to suit the eastern block countries who are in their off seasons when the business end of the competition gets underway. I think we will be stronger by just focusing on the league and domestic competitions.

In order to compete in Europe and on the domestic fronts you need a deep enough squad with an established first 11 of proven quality. Consistency is the key first we establish the consistency then we can start to think about making a serious push for European glory and not pussy out when the shit starts to get real !!
