Discussion about the upcoming window is starting to get heated, many names are popping up, and many people have speculated as to whether or not we will try to get a deal done. Lots have been discussing the lack of deals, or the ability to get a deal done during the January transfer window. Here, I have presented a history of our dealings since Daniel Levy has been the Spurs Chairman, along with the fee associated with the player and year the deal occurred. At the bottom I have provided a short overview of our biggest years and deals. Feel free to use this as a basis for discussion, looking into the upcoming transfer window.

Good work.

Can't believe we only got 600k for Rebrov. Oh wait... I can actually.

It feels like we might spend in January. We definitely need a striker and we are lacking creativity.

We aint getting shit in January, at best we will get a bargain basement signing or loan. We could be at the top of the league but you just know we will end up making our squad weaker.....

It does say a lot to be honest, namely that we have only ever really used the window once to seriously make the squad stronger, and that was cause we were in the shit.

I would like to hope we will spend on a striker and a quality midfielder but I won't hold my breath.

In thinking about it, it's a tough one. We are on the verge of properly moving up to the next level. By that I mean regular CL and potential PL contenders.

The problem is that we don't have to stadium or the unlimited funds if the teams above to achieve this.

The last team who were on the cusp we Everton and they couldn't keep pace and fell back.

We are still on the cusp, and while we are still on the cusp, there is always a chance.

The good news is we still have deadwood that will be used to generate spending money - the likes of Gomes and Dawson will be two big ticket players that should leave and between them, pay a decent proportion of a striker fee.

2009 window had a big expenditure due to our squad lacking strikers after recording high profits from the sale of Berba and Keane

I expect to be disappointed yet again by the January transfer window, its kind of a sure thing now. Happy to be proved wrong, but I won't get my hopes up, especially not for another striker

Thing is, we NEED a striker, with Ade off to Africa in January and Defoe will be our only striker which is never a good option...

The only time we spent in January was when we were in relegation trouble.

I can't be bothered to search now but didn't we sign Defoe and Michael Brown in 2004?

The other time we spent was when Redknapp took over, we were in a relegation battle and had sold a lot in the summer.

Seems to me the times we spent was when we were in trouble and in desperate need of something. in 2004 we needed a battler so bought Brown and in 2009 we bought a battler (Palacios) and a strikeforce.

When we're in a strong position we are not in the same need of filling a gap. We need higher quality than what we currently have. It's not as easy as people think. I don't expect much to happen in January.

You are joking aren't you? Not with the display so far this season by both the playing staff and management team. Dream on.

Nope, i'm not joking, and if you continue reading past the first line you will see that I am saying we will not achieve this. But yes, we are on the verge and have been for the last 3 seasons.

For a team with our finances and stadia size, thats quite an acheivement to still be on the verge.

By the way, you do realise taht we have not been able to field a proper team this season, and we sold our two best players in the summer? I'm not saying it's all rosy, as it is evidently not, but these factors do play a part.

I can't see anything major, certainly no spending over £12m. Getting shut of deadwood such as Gomes and Jenas is easier said than done, a lot will depend if we can get upwards of £7m for Dawson. If we sign an attacking midfielder i'd also like to see the likes of Falque and Townsend go on loan to Premier League clubs.

Most of the money made from the Berba sale was spent getting rid of Ramos and taking Harry on to be honest. :D
