Have a look at the RESERVE side we put out against Charlton yesterday:

Spurs XI (4-4-1-1): Jansson; Fredericks, Bassong, Gallas, Day; Falque, Livermore, Sandro, Pienaar; Giovani; Defoe. Subs: Mason, Bostock, Parrett, Yeboah.

Unbelievable! That side would comfortably survive the Premier league i reckon. Add to that the young lads thriving in the Europa league and we look a formidable outfit. Oh its Happy days to be a spurs fans!!

Defoe scored 5 in a 6-1 win by the way. haha

And still no Pav, Dawson, Hudd, Rose, Carrol, Townsend, Gomes, Charlie, Kranky blah, blah, blah. Not to mention the boys on loan.

Yet for some reason other teams don't think we've got a good squad.

We could name a top 7/8 capable matchday 18 without any of the current 11...

Gomes, Corluka, Dawson, Gallas, Bassong, Sandro, Huddlestone, Giovani, Pienaar, Kranjcar, Defoe... Subs: Cudicini, Caulker, Rose, Livermore, Carroll, Townsend, Pavyluchenko.

We'd have killed for that team a couple of years ago.

If you believe Liverpool fans they think we have a good enough first XI to finish top 4, but our squad strength is poor and will let us down come the end of the season. To me our squad strength is one of our greatest strengths. In reality we have some players in reserve who could easily slot into the team without weakening it too much.

Players like Gallas, Dawson, Sandro, Huddlestone, Pienaar, Kranjcar, Defoe, Corluka, Gomes etc. are all Premiership players who would be certain starters in most Premiership clubs and will probably all have a part to play for us this season and I don't worry about that at all. Then you have the kids coming through with their ambition snapping at the heels of all of those senior players keeping the competition and drive high.

We just have a really nice squad now.

That is super impressive! Things sure have changed in the last 5-10 years.

Really need to find Sandro some first 11 time soon

Defoe scores 5 two years to the day after the five he scored against Wigan.

Strength in depth is excellent in all positions, except centre-forward. I have lost all faith in Pavyluchenko; Defoe, Gio, Mason, Kane, Dawkins, Bostock are all second strikers/attacking midfielders; and I don’t fancy Obika.

It is SO important we sign a back-up/successor to Adebayor in January.

Thing that shocked me is that we have Tony Yeboah on our bench, the bloke must be 50. Still remember those two screamers he scored for Leeds though
