I watched him a fair bit when I took an interest in Ashley Phillips last season.

I agree he'd probably start as depth for Sarr, then end up as a 6.

He doesn't have Bissouma's agility and explosiveness when beating the press, but his composure and footwork in tight spaces is very good from what I've seen.

He can take the ball on the half turn and exit with either foot and scans well. This makes it very difficult for opponents to read what he's going to do.

He'll draw opponents in and beat them with wit and guile, rather than raw physicality.

This will open up the pitch for us the way Ange loves from a 6.

With packed defences opponents choose not be drawn out to press him. In time he could be more effective than Bissouma against low blocks, as if they stand off him and sit deep it's like giving an elite set piece taker a free hit to pick out headers and runs in behind.

Defensively he needs work but he's tenacious, driven, and shows a high football IQ so I can see him being very coachable fairly quickly..

Would be a very astute purchase to complement what we have. I'd be delighted if we got him.
What really surprised me was the highlighted part. Before watching a game I had only seen the standard youtube reals and you didn't really see his close ball manipulation in them. I was rather impressed with it like you point out, he was a lot more technical with the ball at his feet then I had assumed. The fact he's fairly comfortable on both feet is a big plus in this regard.

His work rate is a big plus for the 6 role. Statistically he does attempt a lot of tackles so the drive is obviously there its just about refinement. Also one would assume as he gets older he will fill out physically which would also help with the deeper role in the PL. Ether way I can see why one would be excited by him as a prospect for sure.

A buy and then a loan out to Palace would be preferable, then buy another midfielder as well.

Not sure we’d find enough money down the back of the sofa for both though.

I like his clips. This is very much a hot take, but he reminds me of Rice in terms of his build and the way he moves with the ball. He has that slightly surprising and eye catching mixture of athleticism with poise and grace on the ball. Evidently good vision and awareness. Strong indications of a high footballing IQ which, with experience, will hopefully translate defensively and help him with his positioning and anticipation. That side of his game will of course only develop with experience but the tools seem to be there. Physically he has good ball winning potential. Again, he looks like a 6 in that Rice mould to me - he went for over £100m, so if we think he’s got that type of potential, he’s worth the investment.

I still hope we didn't pass on Scott. He is a 10 and a playmaker. If se did, we are fckg idiots. He is 100% COYS and his technical skills are superior. He is a star in the making.

Maybe it was decided that we're OK right now with Maddison and GLC and in a couple of years we're expecting Jamie Donley to be making inroads. I know JM and GLC have both had injury issues but that all happened after we could have signed Scott.

Premier League clubs cannot loan to another Premier League club a player they have acquired in the same transfer window.

plus wasn’t Scott injured at the start of the season?

Wasn’t this why we couldn’t sign Paul Robinson from Leeds in January and had to wait until the summer?

Refinement is the right word for it, certainly defensively.

He attempts tackles he shouldn't. Presses out of position when he shouldn't.

But bear in mind he's also playing as the more aggressive one in the double pivot, with Trondstad often sitting and breaking up play - and obviously these are all very coachable aspects at his age.

This video shows a bit more of his finer qualities this season.

Notice how he evades pressure off either foot. For instance he'll receive it on his weaker right and in one touch cushion it onto his left to skin his opponent with one fluid two touch movement.

Whilst scanning to see if the player has bought the dummy, and safeguard possession if he's not.

Looks easy but most PL players do NOT want to control it under pressure with their weaker foot. Certainly not confidently enough to use it to beat your man. He'll do it in his own penalty area.

Notice also the range of creative passes with his weaker right foot. He'll have so many angles available to him and be able to control the tempo as he matures.

Lmao spoken like a mob boss:

"...and remember, we don't want him ending up in a river."
No. Spoken like someone who constantly gets misquoted to fit the posters train of thought. .........."But Trix said it was Levy that wanted a cheaper option." Because that's the way the poster 'read it between the lines' at the time.

I thought that was just because we missed the deadline - might be wrong though.

I watched this video. His dribbling style and distribution reminds me of a lot of Wilshere!
