What's new

Ade & Defoe have the lowest conversion rate in the league.

everyone else is shown individually, whereas defoe and ade have been combined so the results are bullshit. we are 4th challenging for 3rd/2nd. If we had a world class striker we would challenge for the title, perhaps, but until then we are making very good progress.

Explains alot. Lets hope we can get Edin Dzeko next season!!

what is the point in having a plank of wood in the team - he does nothing to integrate play with the other players

need a busy forward like Tevez, Cavani or Suarez

obviously none of those 3 are available but someone of that ilk

in the AVB system we need a striker who scores goals, not one who spends more time 'linking' play
Dzeko would do for me

I have listened to a lot of Man City fans and they do not rate Dzeko at all, he's good in the air and that's it

Poor man's Andy Carroll? Dzeko has scored a goal every 99 minutes this season. The only players in the world who boast better than that this season are Ronaldo, Messi, and Falcao.

indeed and I remember that game well, personally I don't rate him at all, but thankfuly we'll never buy him anyway so I am not too worried

I also take on board more opinions of those that watch him week in week out that those who just look at stats - although both are valid.

defoe has hot and cold spells,,,obviously of late, hes been going through a cold patch, however,,iv watched defoe for long enough now to know hes gonna go on a scoring streak at the right time of the season

Not sure what it is now but as of about 4 games ago Defoe had a shot to goal ratio of 9.8

For comparison, Suarez was the closest striker to him in the league who had played a certain amount of games with 5.5.

Hooray - narrow minded, biased statistics that prove nothing. These are my favourite!!

Why are there no Arsenal players?
Why no Lukaku, no Welbeck, no Steven Fletcher!?

Is it maybe because those players would have made the Ade/Defoe partnership look a bit better, and that isn't the point of the article?

We have scored more goals as a team than Everton and Swansea, the same as Liverpool and nearly as many as City. We have conceded fewer as a team than Everton, Liverpool and even United! We have won more games than Arsenal and have more points than 16 other teams right now.

So who cares if Defoe doesn't have as many 'critical passes' or whatever as Suarez?!?

What? The right time is all the time, consistency is key, you can't just sit there and say "oh he will go on a streak, i know it" and pass it off as a positive judgement on the guy. You can't rely on Hot and Cold.

Defoe has moderately warm spells and freezing cold spells. The cold spells are always longer, and the warm spells are never actually that good. As for your last comment of having watched him long enough to know he's going to go on a scoring streak at the right time of the season, he's only ever had these scoring spells in the first half of a season as far as I can remember, and never scores enough.

Most seem to be defending him on there and those criticising him just seem angry they didn't sign RVP! IF city sell him for anything less than £20m and if he wanted to come for a wage we can afford (both unlikely!) I think we would struggle to find a better striker.

That said I agree with what you say about I never happening.
