If he is expected to be okay then surely it must only feel a bit tight. Usually a hammy injury is a minimum fortnight.

Tonight proved how important he is to us.

Yep. We need a bigger presence leading the line. Defoe worked hard but he needs to drop off to win the ball and that leaves us deeper. I would still love a striker who can make something out of nothing but there aren't many of those around.

It's amazing how many of our players get better the longer they stay on the bench!

Would be interested to know why you disagree with how important he is, not digging at you just interested.

For me, when you play 1 up top, the ball has to stick to that 1 to allow the 3 in behind to join the attack, it doesnt with Defoe, it will with Ade, so in my mind he is massively important to us.

the size of the front man is almost irrelvant depending on the type of football you play. if the ball is kept on the floor and not hoofed long, Stoke style then as long as the front 1 has a decent touch and a bit of nouse then it shouldnt be a problem.

of course there are some times when a long channel ball or a clearance ends up on the centre backs head but thats where the 2nd balls need to be won. sounds like a footballing cliche from the side of the pitch by a non-league coach but thats the truth.

it was slightly tongue in cheek but I do remember last year when Defoe wasnt getting games some would have you think he was amongst the worlds best ...... as for Adebayor I have to say I am not a huge fan although I do admit he fits the system better than Defoe
