It may be any shortfall?
Think people easily forget just how good at football an inspired ade was.
Wonder if Citeh & the Goons have that exact thought! If he on a short term deal then he will be fired up to get a permanent deal like in his first season everywhere. It will be like having a rogue spy
I am glad he has found a club to take him and I wish him all the best. No matter whatever some Tottenham fans think about him, he did score 42 goals for us and did a reasonable job for the club. Let's hope he scores against some of our rivals for a top four place.
I bet he's pretty useful for them between now and May.Fixed
I defended ade for ages he had a crazy life. But I saw this and it's hard too disagree.
Funny they had all window to sign him but waited till after we played them. Anyone think we had something to do with it?
Steady. He's no Winstone BogardeOn his day he was unplayable and that's the Ade I'd love to remember. He could have been one of the top players of his generation but unfortunately through a combination of being spoilt, mentally unstable and having what can only be described as a truly horrible family (if the press is to be believed) continually unsettling him he will probably be known as the biggest parasite in English football.
Oh, Adebayor.
He was a pain in the arse, yes, but let's not forget he also saved our arses a lot of times too. The lasting image I'll have of Adebayor is him running over and saluting our fans after every goal when he was banging them in for fun at the tail end of the 13/14 season. It was important for him to be liked by us, and for that time at least, he was. We are, after all, the club he's spent the largest segment of his career with.
I actually feel pretty sorry for Ade. As someone who has been battling with PTSD for the past five years, I can only imagine what he's been through every day since the Togo bus shooting in 2010. It's easy to forget that players are human too, but I think the aftermath of that incident essentially ruined his career for him. I have first hand experience of how much of a pain in the arse you can inadvertently become without meaning to when you're suffering serious internal turmoil.
I know he has a reputation as a mercenary, and to some he is, but he's always made it clear that half of his earnings go straight back to Togo to help the poor and disadvantaged in his home country. That's why he plays football, that's why earning big bucks is important to him, and I think that's both understandable and commendable. One bad injury could end his career at any moment and at that point the cash flow stops. Make hay while the sun shines etc.
Thanks for the goals big guy. I wish him well.
