Hi Matty :)

valid points - but I still go with Levy - he's looking at the overall picture - so am I - so doubtless are you - we just see it from different perspectives :)

BTW that signature/avatar might force me to put you on ignore (nothing personal - but these moving ones do me grumpy ole head in :)

We can hose it down with all the champagne we'll be getting when winning the CL in a few years  unless Ledley gets to that first

Just on the point of names, this stadium is being built in two parts, 3 sides completed then we all move in, Paxton is knocked down and the 4th stand built. Whats the bets we call this the new stand forever more? :)

Your not the only one fella.....I was hoping, praying, that it would not have any resemblance to the immigrants, but apart from the roof it does look very similar from the outside. If we gonna copy and improve on a design why not copy the Allianz arena or Valencia's new stadium?

Just hope DL keeps his promise and keeps us as close to the pitch as possible and not build a moat like most new clubs do i.e. ar5ena1

I think the Valencia stadium looks absolutely stunning for a a Southern European modern city, but it would look totally ridiculous on the Tottenham High Road. The whole area needs regeneration, and a stadium with restrained class.

Remember, this stadium has to last us 100 + years, if our aim is to be a champions league club, we need to aim to have a capacity that will allow us to expand our supporter base.

I'd expect this new Stadium to be expandable. Hopefully it will be like the Nou Camp where it can be built on while the season is ongoing.

First time I've been threatened to be put on ignore not because of what I've said but because of flat eric and my giraffe!

I don't doubt we all have the best interests of the club at heart - as I suggested to the project team, if we have a bigger capacity and we are struggling to sell games out (like midweek games) give free tickets to schools to get the next generation of fans involved.

I'd expect this new Stadium to be expandable. Hopefully it will be like the Nou Camp where it can be built on while the season is ongoing.

There were rumours that it would be, though the roofing structure looks pretty solid to me so could be more costly to do a phase expansion than do it in one go.

interesting view from an Arsenal fan

What a sham! Arsenal struggled to secure the necessary funding to design, build and deliver a new stadium in a financial climate that was comparatively decadent. That along with the fact that they were one of the most successful clubs in the country, had a worldwide following beaten only by Man Utd and Liverpool, had cash reserves, a successful footballing side and waiting lists reaching into the millions. Not to mention the Highbury redevelopment.

What chance do a bottom 3 side, with the global reach of an amputee, have of securing the same funds. Ha, Spurs have more chance of building a stadium on the moon than getting funding for their Emirates clone.

Levy and ENIC have been looking to flog the club for a profit for some time, these plans are nothing more than a way to try and bump up the price and meet that target after they failed so miserably in their aims of making it to the champions league.

When will this pitiful little club realise its place and accept that.

Nothing would be funnier. Even better would be if we won the Carling Cup, some other jobber team won the FA Cup, Villa got 4th comfortably, and someone like Everton pipped Arsenal to the UEFA Cup spot. I'd happily finish 17th if this happened, it would officially make my year.

As much as I didn't want a bowl shape, I do like the look of it, it could have been alot worse. Just going to depend now on how it is from the inside, I hope it is seperated into 3 tiers and it appears to be more squared inside like the Allianz. For me that is the best modern stadium and we should be trying to follow that as much as possible, actually most of the German stadiums are awesome. They seem like proper football stadiums to me.

Agree, a bit allianz-ish, without the stupid bubble-lights outside, which is what I wanted really.

Just hoped the roof would be flat

Couldn't care less about the roofs it's the inside that counts, I'll be sitting there not on the roof.

This is slightly worrying:

8. What is the expected capacity?
The Chairman has been quite clear in his brief to us - it's not about chasing headline capacity, it about atmosphere and fan experience. The key issue is that we're going to have the best atmosphere of any Premier League stadiums both now and afterwards, so everything relates back to that.
We're going to be somewhere between 55,000 and 60,000. It's getting the balance right between proximity to the pitch, seat width, leg room, sight lines, all of those combined. We could give everyone a much bigger capacity but everyone will be further away from the pitch. We think that being closer, and we've talked to fan groups and a lot of people at the club, gives you that intensity.

Makes sense to me, as long as we compete then a few thousand either way makes no odds at all, more important is the fan experience and they seem to be getting that right.

not point building 61,000 seater if going to be empty

Agreed.

I'd far rather have 55,000 if that made a significant difference to noise and view levels

I think we'll struggle to fill 60,000 for most games without offering cut price tickets - so while I'm in favour of that aspect (ie cheaper access) - it ain't cheap if it compromises on sound and vision

Spot on.

interesting view from an Arsenal fan

Bitter and twisted view not interesting or even vaguely balanced. Please don't print these views they just wind everyone up.

I was impressed with it at the AGM. They stressed that they want it to be the best in Europe, (and definitely better than the one down the road), and seem to have thought of all the main points apart from the design, like the atmosphere is a top priority. They want everyone to have a good view, and good facilities, and to want to come early and stay late. The fan experience is all important, and they even mentioned the toilets, and not having to wait for ages! (Good news for us ladies).

I like the look of it. It does look similar to the scums stadium but then I think most of the modern stadiums look similar. As there is an argument that their stadium has similarities to wembley. Im guessing if we put in for a building application round summer time next year it probably wont start getting built till the earliest winter 2010 early 2011. Am looking forward to it though and everything coming from DL and the club sounds very promising.
