I don't mind a bit of a nutter in my team. A lot of good teams have had loose canons in them. You look at your Cantonas, Romarios and Zlatans, the key thing is harnessing their talent, arrogance and individuality, and using it to make the team greater than the sum of its parts, by good management.

I'm not saying Mitrovic will be as good as any of the above, but sometimes you need to take a risk on someone who walks to their own beat.

Balotelli and Barton are available

The difference between Balotelli and some of the players I mentioned is that he just doesn't care, he's not a winner. Romario may have gone out dancing all night before games, but when the whistle went he'd be 100% focused on tormenting defenders.

Not entirely sure he fits our style in terms of attitude and work ethic, but can't help thinking he has the finishing skills to be a success. Are we missing a trick here, if he can be worked on? Is a touch of arrogance a bad thing in a striker??

That said, I actually have a but if trust in our scouting/transfer policy this time round. So favour the fact the coaches/scouts obviously see something they don't fancy, and have potentially identified someone who ticks the same boxes but with less attitude.

I'm sure he can/will be a success, but not for us. The whole point of our new scouting system is to identify players that fit our style of play, not players that are the complete opposite.

I have spoken to a few of my mates from Belgium and they don't rate Mitrovic. They added that his style of play won't fit Spurs. He is a poacher in the box and also scores a fair amount of headers.

As we have seen with Soldado, a box striker doesn't fit our style of play. And we don't cross a lot under Poch, so the signing of Mitrovic won't make any sense.

Think he's just the sort of signing we should be making. Less than £15m, good goal scoring record, good in the air, right fit for the PL, young with potential to improve further.

I don't care if pressing is not his natural game or he's a bit arrogant.

We can't just sign a striker who's barely played in a competitive league or is not a specialist CF. We need to be a signing a Sakho or Bony before a CL club come in or someone like this guy.

I'm actually pleased if it's true that we're taking a deeper analysis of a potential incoming's character.

We need to start making sure we're taking those with desire and a willingness to put the team first. A team like that will always be better than the sum of its parts.

Damn, Newcastle have made some nice moves today. Wijnaldum and Mitrovic. Two signings that are quite talented, young and I believe will turn out to be good investments.

Wijnaldum is a player who I'm a big fan of. Bit more "meh" on Mitrovic.

Wijnaldum was the best player in the Eredevisie last season. Yet another player on top of Payet, Ayew, Konoplyanka, Shaqiri and Cabaye that are going to smaller clubs than us that we could have used. Our options for attacking players are dwindling by the minute and we won't pay 20-25 million for these mythical players with resale value that everyone covets. We've also seen with Southampton spending 12 million pounds on Shane Long last season that Paul Mitchell isn't a magician when it comes to landing elite, unknown European talent at cut rate prices.

Are Sevilla a smaller club than us? Aren't they consecutive Europa League winners? I agree that the others are going to smaller clubs than most would have expected they'd go to but I'm pretty sure ITK have said that we weren't interested in every single one of them. I guess you just have to trust the recruitment staff to do their job and get the players in that they have identified and that we need.

I think Depay was far and away the best player in the Eredivisie last year.
