One thing I am slightly concerned on, and don't take this as some negative handwringing is...

Is Alessandro Bastoni really hard enough? You watch Romero, it's immediately obvious that he would take one look at opposing forwards and show them what's what. Even Dier and Davies, they enjoy the dark arts, they talk shit to opposing forwards, they seek out contact.

I watched the Milano derby in February and Bastoni was slow to get out to the ball twice, and tentative in going for a block or tackle. Directly gave up 2 goals because of it. Tentative approach led to a deflected shot which went in (off Bastoni) and him being out of position and allowing a pass to Giroud who then scored.

I am concerned about his aggression and his ability to really be balls to the wall when necessary. Jan was a unique case of being extremely classy on the ball but also one of the toughest and hardest players in the entire league, just quietly.

Does Bastoni have the 'nasty' element to his game?

I admit I have seen very little of Bastoni, but I don't think he has to be overly physical in our defence.

From what I have seen he is very creative.

Could Bastoni play centrally? He has the passing range and cool temperament.

Isn't too attacking for that? Seems more suited to those left centre back role where he can come out and attack

I could be off base here but curious from anyone who remembers the Inter games vs Liverpool.

I just watched the highlights to see how he stuck out in chances Liverpool had. It almost looks like they targeted him a little bit on set pieces.

He got loose on Mane for a header in the first game, was loose on Firmino for a goal off a corner in game 1.

In game 2 they set up a pick play on him, he fell over and got a free header for Van Dijk. Game 2 he also got loose on Salah for a chance he hit the bar on and picked up a yellow diving in on him.

Just some observations.

He was the worst defensively out of the 3 cbs. I watched both games.
The best was Skriniar by far.

I suppose the response to that is that Conte knows exactly the type of player he is and he wants him for that position as his top target.

Perhaps he values the ball playing ability higher than his lack of aggression / defending in his system. There is also the aspect that his defending can be improved but ball playing, passing and creativity can’t. So if Bastoni was to improve his defending as he develops and gets older, he basically would be the total package.

I do think we need a ball player in there, that’s more important than his lack of aggression for sure.

I mean we have Davies there who isn’t exactly aggressive either and is actually a really limited player all round, so Bastoni will be a huge improvement regardless.

My concern is when the window opens, the likes of Chelsea will go sniffing. I have seen this scenario many times with the most recent being Diaz to Liverpool

I'm honestly less worried with this guy. We've got champs league and Conte. I think that'll be a big pull for the lad.

I think that's right. Other clubs are singing players all around us but are restricted in exactly the same way as we are regarding when those signatures can actually be secured. That's my understanding.

The signatures can be literally anytime, we could’ve signed Bastoni in March say but his contract won’t start until he can be registered which I think is 10th June

Not quite sure what's funny about what I wrote, our defence has been really really good with Ben and Eric, and either Dav or Cuti.
Still each to their own ?
No way I'm losing my temper, just continue to put the people who doubt Ben on my ignore list, and wait to be proved right as I have been time and again ?

There is not only #Perisic in the aims of #Tottenham , the "Spurs" push for #Bastoni and in recent days the defender has received the call of #Conte .

Interesting to read inter fans on twitter in the comments to that tweet. They are saying they should only sell for 100 million+.

Another says that Bastoni is the only on impossible to replace in defence as he can create attacks. Skriniar is much easier to replace.

Bastoni has personally told Conte he wants to come, just need to sort out the fee etc with Inter. We believe there is a deal to be done but Inter need to sort replacement first which they are currently working on.
