Feels like this one’s a bit of a Hail Mary pass. If we pull it off it’ll be an exceptional coup, but I’m not going to hang my hopes on this happening.

He’d be an absolutely amazing signing. A LCB version of Romero.

I watched him play last week and I like him better than Romero, his dribbling, ball playing, and log passing is next level. He's an attacking CB and it's easy to see why Conte likes him.

Very impressive

Previously I would have agreed with you 100% however I wouldn’t be so sure this summer.
All three of us are in the CL, Citeh are sorted at the back whilst Chelsea need a whole new back line.
With conte at the helm, our infrastructure and world class forward line if I’m a young defender I’m looking at us and thinking I want to be a part of that!
I'd like to agree but you look at City and 4 in 5 titles and the fact that the CL win is a matter of when not if, any player who backs themselves would pick them regardless of the current lineup. I mean Ake and Stones get games and Bastoni would rate himself above them surely. Also Chelsea are still going to be more appealing than Spurs for a number of years as they also regularly pick up trophies, spend plenty and have a very good coach too. I would love to think that Conte alone was enough to persuade players but i dont think it is just yet. If Liverpool, Chelsea, City, Real, Barca, Bayern, Juve, Inter and PSG are in for a player our chances are 10% at best. Now the reality is that we have no idea who is really interested as we know the press and agents throw stories around all the time, so fingers crossed in this instance we are the only top 4 prem team in for him as i believe he would be excellent in our lineup.

Disagree sorry, Conte was his manager for 2 seasons, Conte was the one who made him a starter. Also he kinda said this

Inter Milan's Antonio Conte 'Is the Messi of Coaches,' Says Alessandro Bastoni

I would say if conte wants him he comes to us.

As long as they avoid us…

Edit: it’s kind of tongue in cheek, but the same could be said of PSG, yet they’ve both made as many finals as we have.

"the fact that the CL win is a matter of when not if,"

That's not really a fact, is it?

Also major uncertainties at Chelsea- I would think players would think twice before going there now.

Still don't really understand the City links to Bastoni.

They already have Laporte, Dias, Stones and Ake, all of which have a few years left on their contracts. I highly doubt anyone of them will be eager to leave the best team in the country when no other club will come close to matching their wages or winning as many trophies.

Also, presuming they've already signed Haaland and will drop big cash on a new CM to replace Fernandinho, would City drop 60m+ on another CB? Obviously it's possible cos it's City, but even for them feels a bit excessive. Also given they only have 3 proper full-backs and Zinchenko barely plays you'd think that would be a much higher priority position than a fifth CB?

With City, nothing is surprising, but to me this one doesn't quite add up on paper.

(EDIT: Not even a thread for him on Bluemoon)

Get this done please. I reckon that's a damn fine back 3. Power, pace and passing. Sexy time.

Couple of decent wingbacks, we're well and truly sorted in the defence. Noice.

I think there's still a good chance irregardless of who else wants him because of Conte. Remember too that someone said that Inter want to encourage a bidding war, so there may not be the level of interest we are having reported (although for a player of his calibre I'd not be surprised). City would more than likely be in for him as he's top draw, but also to prevent a competitor upgrading. Chelsea, despite having the 200m investment have probably more holes to fill due to the number of players they have leaving on free's.

Anyways, it will be a massive coup if we do get him.

The Chelsea situation is interesting their back line is getting eroded by age and people leaving in a free. I’d imagine most of their money going there. That’s what makes me nervous.

I think the City links are there purely to try to get us to bid up. I’m sure Conte is going to ask Paratici to do everything he can to get him.

Yeah he certainly loves to attack, which is one of the reasons why he is so good in back 3 formations. And hopefully why teams that don't use that system won't try to buy him.

Well if we sign him and every time he picks the ball he dribbles 5 yards and then shoots from behind the half way line we know who to blame.
As long as he scores 3 on 35-40% of his shots, I’ll be happy!

I hope so, which would just leave Chelsea. If Chelsea haven't had their takeover completed and still have a ban in place hopefully the Spurs board could place a bid and get a deal wrapped up before Chelsea can make a move.
