I mean encouraging in terms of the transfer happening. But yes, ideally he would desperately want the move.

Worth remembering that Emerson didn't want to leave Barcelona.
Not sure Emerson is the example i want to hear ?

Fingers crossed we land Bastoni

think he’s actually the perfect example. was he of the required level? probably not.

did he ever give anything less than 100%? nope. he is, and has been, the ultimate professional. not only that, but once he got here, he immersed himself in the club and was a cult hero due to his commitment and passion by the end of the season.

if bastoni is half of that, he’ll be an absolute star and fan favorite.

Thing is I think there's a big difference between not wanting to leave a club and not wanting to join another club. I'm sure his preference is to stay at Inter but if his club sell him then he'll come and give everything for us. He will probably fall in love with the club as we've seen with many who come to our club. He will have Conte coaching him again and some familiar faces from Serie A. I'm sure there's plenty of players who get sold who don't really want to leave but it's in the clubs best interest. If you get a move to another top club especially in another league it's maybe not so hard. In particular the Premier League which is arguably the best in the world.

Sounds like his agent is being the bad cop and Bastoni can come out of this in a good way to the Inter fans.

The exact same happened with Romero. And, in Bastoni's case, it comes from Daniele Longo — that works for calciomercato, known for being an agent's mouthpiece in Italy. Definitely a PR move.

His comp videos are worth the transfer fee alone. ?

To be honest, this all seems to be following the same path as Vlahovic, too… player really doesn’t want to leave according to statements in public, etc… just in that case the club hung him out to dry about rejecting contract offers etc.

I think the agent spin theory is the best. There's no way talks would be this far advanced (apparently) if the player had no intention of leaving and had voiced that to us and Inter

What about Lenglet being 4th or 5th choice is so hard for you to understand? I didn’t say we are right now on our 4th choice target having been rejected every else else, FP obviously has lots of things in the air, but it’s common knowledge that Gvardiol, Torres and Bastoni are higher up on our list. That makes Lenglet lower than them on the list, like 4th choice. It’s not hyperbole or guess work to say that, Ally G literally confirmed it just now.

Whether we sign him and he becomes a success who knows…but it’s an underwhelming link compared to the others on the list.
You’ve had him at 5th choice, then 6th, then 5th again and now 4th choice. Make your mind up??

Eh? Vlahovic definitely wanted to leave. He just didn’t want to come to Spurs over Juventus

I agree and if he doesn’t and wants to leave in 12 months time, then we sell him back to Italy.

The problem with following this daily and at the start of the window is that it’s going to move slowly. People just need to chill. If it happens it happens. We’ve plenty of time.

He will want to return to Inter in the future so he will show reluctance to leave and stay on good terms with them. He's only 23 so if he comes here for 4-5 years he can return to Inter for his peak years. Maybe by then Inter will have sorted their finances and can afford to bring him back.

Correct. If it's his boyhood club he's not going to want to make it seem like wanted to leave.

Publicly he said dozens of times he didn‘t want to leave. The inference - and fear - was that he intended to see his contract out. As a result, the chairman hung him out to dry over his rejection of the new improved contract they had offered. It’s all in the very long Vlahovic thread.

I am very curious to know what Inter would do if Bastoni refuses to leave. I’m assuming they would be forced to sell Lautaro. I know there was talk of Skriniar but I’m not sure he would bring in the same sort of fee as good as he is.

Martinez may want to stay just as much as Bastoni though. I said before that I think there will be a time where Inter will have to say to one of the players that they need to move them on for the sake of the club, if it comes down to that.

I mean, I understand it's a hard decision whether to leave your boyhood club. But if you're a professional footballer playing at the highest level, then this sort of thing is part of the job.

I hope he joins. If he wants to move, great. If he doesn't, fine, let's move onto the next target. There are plenty of players who will jump at the chance to play for us and Conte.

Ultimately we want people who are 100% committed to us. Sometimes you need to persuade players, sure. But if their heart isn't in it, they're not the right player for our club and vice versa.
