Wonder if we try again next season even after a replacement has been brought in? I mean, Inter do appear to be a load of c**ts in negotiating with

I am sure we have moved on.

The worry is, Bremer and Gvardiol were the other top targets and are also not happening. You start to wonder if it isn't going to plan with LCB.
Why though? I am sure we found out very early on as did Chelsea that Gvardiol is wayyyyy overpriced. I don't care how good his ceiling is, 70-80m for a 20 year old CB who has had one good season, is an absolute joke. The only player we failed with is Bastoni, we still have Torress we can pull the trigger on I would imagine, heavily linked to Ndicka, so I am not sure how its not going to plan?

We're never going to get all of our first choices but every player we've bought so far has improved the squad. At the moment we have one very good LCB in Ben but have no real cover. If we can get another of similar or preferably better quality then we will have more chance of winning a trophy and moving up the table this season.

This one is not happening.

Closest comp to Bastoni is Torres. I imagine we’re pivoting our focus to him.

Part-exchange with Lo Celso and all parties can come away satisfied.

This is never happening after all the 'Bastoni will stay' countless times. Would create a lot of hostility between the fans and board at inter, and although they'd like the money I doubt they want to fuck over the fans that badly with false hope.

Personally wouldn’t mind Hincapie as the alternative, he is quite similar imo! Both progress the ball, little suspect on the defensive side but young and bags of potential.

If they haven't already, hopefully this is the final nail in the coffin and Conte/Paratici can move on to other targets.

Inter are doing nothing more than wasting our time and they'll never sell us Bastoni or Martinez this summer.

The agent is saying what he should be saying. He doesn't want to burn bridges with Inter. Bastoni may stay so they respect the contract. Equally, Inter do need to raise money by selling one or more of their star players. It looks like that player may be Skriniar but who knows in football. We never thought Conte would be our manager after the summer.

Reports now starting to circle in Italy that Inter can’t afford both Lukaku and Dybala. Almost the exact same line as us re Eriksen is being rolled out by the press that they talked to Dybala’s people a few weeks back and that no new talks are scheduled as their priority is Lukaku atm.

As this one dies out another name I've been surprised we haven't been linked with is Marcos Senesi. Plays for Feyenoord and was a unit on their way to the conference league final. Had Abraham in his pocket for pretty much the whole game. Think of Romero but left footed and I think with more speed...a host of big clubs have been linked with him including inter to replace bastoni. Italy had called him up for Argentina to also call him up. I have a feeling he will be in top 5 leagues next year and no doubt he will be a rock. Wouldn't cost much, obviously a worry from Dutch league tho after watching his run to the finals and against roma he looked solid every game. Rarely put a foot wrong and his passing and control were sublime.

Was so impressive in that game, that Mourinho wants to sign him.

I don’t think what his agent says makes a difference, as if Inter suddenly decide to accept an offer for him, then there stance would more than likely be different.

However, I don’t think we will get him anymore, as much as I would love us too. I do think though, that our transfer ins from here on, are a domino effect pending on the outcome of our Bastoni pursuit. We are probably waiting until Inter have decided who they’re selling definitively, and have that transfer completed before categorically moving on from Bastoni. As come near June 30th (iirc) Inter may come back begging to us, if PSG/Chelsea don’t follow through on any deal.

For example: He is our number one choice (Or Contes 1st choice as per rumours), and if we signed him, it results in us going for cheaper options in other positions and vice Versa, we could then go bigger in value in other positions if he doesn’t sign.

Scenario 1: (Bastoni Signs)
- Sign Eriksen on a free
- Sign only one versatile forward (Richarlison) or 2 cheaper option signings.

Scenario 2: (Bastoni doesn’t sign).
- Cheaper LCB signs (Torres, Lenglet or Ndicka)
- Eriksen signs
- Sign 2 in forward line (Richarlison, Scamacca, Raphina, Antony, Osimhen, Martinez)

I also think Eriksen signing is dependent on whether we get/go for an expensive CB (Bastoni) or a more expensive forward. Or if we say go for a cheaper options in both defence and attack, allows us to go for someone of Eriksen style but will cost i.e. Paqueta

Dominoes…more like Chess with a mastermind type question before every move.

I really hope we aren't doing this. Inter have fucked us over before. We can't afford to wait and see whether their transfer plans work out before progressing our own.

I agree, but we have the money this time and if end of June is correct and that’s there deadline to sell, we have then still plenty of time afterwards to conclude deals with plenty of other alternatives at good quality available for us to pursue.
I wouldn’t say Inter are mucking us about, it’s just business and they’re just having to do what is best for them in a difficult situation where they’re having to sell important key players whilst also wanting to remain competitive as a big club in champions league and be able to challenge for Serie A every season.

The party line definitely is he is under contract..

"Bastoni? He's on holiday. He is staying, we respect the contract. His contract extention? We will do it as soon as Inter call us".

I don’t think we’ll sign him now sadly, but everyone is under contract until they’re sold. And if he’s so willing to sign a new contract, then Inter should be on the phone right now!

Bale was on holiday too, I recall. We used that time to buy most of the 7 before his sale was confirmed
