The fact that many have already written us off for next season makes me very excited.

Here's yet more of he same kind of aggravating journalistic spin that we're seeing in every story:

The midfielder notes Tottenham's need to strengthen, with title rivals breaking their transfer records or spend into the hundreds of millions of pounds.

He added: "Maybe another player or two players is all we need."

It's bloody obvious that Dele is answering a question about new signings by saying "NO, we're fine, we only need 1 or 2 players".

But the writer has added an introductory sentence that totally contradicts what Dele was trying to articulate.

Pochettino's words are being subjected to the same treatment. He gives the same kind of anodyne semi-non-answer every time he gets asked the same fucking tedious question, then the journalists edit and spin it to suit what they had already decided to write.

It's all bollocks. The club has had the same policy all summer. It hasn't changed, just because we conceded a few goals.

What's also highly peculiar about this whole debate is that our pre-season has been characterised by leaky defending. But no one is "linking" us with any defenders, except potential replacements for Walker. It's all wingers and backup strikers and midfielders. So there's even less of a connection between our form and our transfer policy.

Some posts here read as if people reckon Levy & Pochettino will alter their strategy because we conceded 3 goals against Man City. Sounds pretty bloody silly when you put it like that.

I could also have put this in the Dier thread. One of the reasons, imo, for us not rushing in and buying players is because we have Dier. Add to him the likes of Harry Winks and to some extent Son. We are lucky to have versatility which those teams that are rushing around like headless chickens trying to get two for each position apparently do not. You re quite right, David. Either 'journos' are too stupid to see what is front of their noses or simply deliberately trying to be aggravating.
