Haven't seen much of him to be honest, anyone know how he compares to our afro-haired wonder?

He is good. You aren't really getting many good deals money wise with Porto though.

Hah. Yeah, right.

Buying players from Porto is the stupidest thing we could do transfer-wise. They don't give bargains.

Very good fullback who did very well for Uruguay at the Copa America. He's more full back than wing back as he's a very good defender but can hit a cross with the very best of them.

Over/Under on the number of Porto players we'll be linked with if AVB is named manager? I'll set it at 5.

Porto must get tired of being rinsed of their players every time their manager leaves.

The Porto links are going to be coming thick and fast from now on.

Only way he would come is if AVB simply dont rate Benny at all. JJ hinted that some of the departures this summer could cause some upset among the fans, and if Benny is shown the door that would indeed upset me atleast!

Dont make sense though, as if beeing the coolest mofo around was not enough, he is also a brilliant player!

I wonder if Ekotto is one of the players JJ was referring to when he talked about some players leaving won't be popular decisions. Wouldn't piss myself if true. Ekotto very good on the ball in the middle third but he's not that great at either end.

£25 million for a FB to replace Benny makes absolutely zero sense in terms of our team needs and the supposedly available budget.

Fabio Coentrao was sold to Real Madrid for an alleged 30 million Euros. I think they massively overpaid, and so do most Spanish football watchers.

Paolo Maldini was the best FB I've ever seen. He was also a leader, whose composure spread across any defence he played in. I doubt he'd go for as much as £25 million in today's market. Once he moved inside to CB, you could argue that he was worth more.

There's an argument that FBs are more important in modern football because of the time and space they can get on the ball. But even Real Madrid and Barca, teams packed with superstars, have tolerated ordinary FBs - eg Arbeloa at Real, Abidal at Barca.

It would be madness from our end to use any valuable time and resources at this stage on a new FB when we need forwards, madness i tell thee...

Chelsea tried to buy him when AVB was manager, the price Porto quoted even put Abramovich off - there really are no steals to be had from them and the chairman's a bit of a crook apparently. We should probably move on.
